As I said earlier, I have no problem switching Berry for Artest. I think Artest accomplished more in his first two years than Malik did. However, if I was only choosing 4 year players, then I would have to go with Malik.Monte post=443492 said:Panther as purely a college player, you take Ron over Walter and Malik?panther2 post=443441 said:Tony Jackson, Sonny Dove, Chris Mullin, Mark Jackson, and Ron Artest

add Walter Berry, player of the year.
Holy cow I completely forgot about D'LO and Ponds. They would be on my second or third team honorable mention list too. I cant put Harkless because he was only here 1 yearAmaseinyourface post=443517 said:I pretty much start from Hatten if we are talking about watching entire careers.
Hatten, Harrison, Ponds, Hardy
Julian, Harkless, DJ, Sir Dom make the B team.
Shelton Jones was kind of a big reason I became a st johns fan and went to St Johns. First game I went to at Alumni Hall in 87-88 season when I was a senior in high school I saw us play providence and he scored 31 points I think and the place was rocking sellout I think or close to sold outRed Bloods post=443520 said:Sonny Dove, Tony Jackson, Chris Mullin, Mark Jackson & Walter Berry.
H.M. - Boo Harvey, Willie Glass, Shelton Jones, Bill Wennington & David Russell

Mel was a man among boys in college. He would have been a very good NBA player had he not suffered that knee injury in the NIT. His running mate at St John's, Billy Schaeffer, was no slouch either and hasn't received any mention in this thread. Bill's baseline jumper was money in the bank. Mel and Billy were great players but not Mt Rushmore candidates IMO.

That's why I said "he may be". Need to see how the year goes. I should have been clearer. I consider Ponds a prolific scorer, not a great player. Some great moments no doubt, but too many other moments where I screamed at him through the TV. I never did that with the great ones I've watched(Artest, Sealy, Mullin, Berry, Jackson), and haven't done that with Champ either.RedStormNC post=443537 said:Monte post=443535 said:Lots of names being tossed around. I like Champ and hope for a great season, but I'm not ready to call him great yet.
Many would same the same about D'Lo or Ponds. Ponds won big games carrying the team... Champ hasn't.
LOL That would be hilarious. I would but I dont want to start a negative thread even though it would be off the wall funnyRedStormNC post=443541 said:Thanks Monte..
Definitely think you might be on to something with rate and tone of screaming at the TV as a true measure of a players worth.
Think mjm should start a whole new thread of SJU Rushmore of Players who got screamed at most....lol
