St. John's June Elite Camp

Mullin "mulling" pros & cons re Rice I sense.

Paultz, I don't think CM is making any decision on his own. I would assume (hope) that Bobby Gempesaw and Anton Goff the AD would need to be involved.

I am sure the Board in some way (via Gempesaw) will be consulted if true.

If he wants him, my opinion is he will get him. His availability and interest in SJU is probably not a surprise to folks you referenced, especially Goff. Let's see how this plays out. Mullin may not be interested at the end of the day.

Thanks Paultz. not a surprise and approval are two different things. I seem to be taking the path less traveled on this one. Which is ok. I think I have a problem with guys that hit and bully student athletes. I am interested to see how these plays out.

My high school football coaches could be nasty SOB's. Lots of coaches are in practices. Mike Rice was a bit off the rails at that time, but I don't think it's the worst thing in the world. It won't hurt our rep in the least in my opinion. He deserves a second chance, and has done well at St. Patrick's or whatever it is being called now? The guy lives for ball. I hope we hire him.

My drill Sargents were sadistic MoFos but we needed to be hardened.

I hope Mullin brings him on board.

Besides bringing in a good coaching resume, the program could use the positive press that would follow.

Wouldn't coaching AAU already be considered a second chance?

I'm all for it.

Also coached the Patrick School, so he's technically already had his second and third chance, and wasn't a dick in either case.

I think he's changed, and he helps in areas where we are deficient, so I'm all for it.

The people caping for Mike Rice have to be delusional as hell. We play in the biggest media market by far, and you want to add this problem? I can see Zach for the post, Zagoria for the times having a field day with this. I've seen SJU basketball and the university on Politico, USToday, ESPN, and sports illustrated for a lot less. We don't need the bad press.

Secondly, could you guys imagine how our rivals would use this during recruiting? Imagine a kid thinking between Seton Hall or SJU, everything else even, Kevin willard has a conversation with the parents and plays the video. Then what? This extends to providence, Nova, Butler, etc.

Sometimes I read these posts and just smile. I have been told that Willard has already reached out to Mike Rice. However, Rice feels the situation is better at St. Johns and is hoping to receive an offer from Mullin.

Sometimes I read these posts and cry. If true I can't wait for our school to be attached to this:

It speaks for itself.

The reason for my statement was your mention of Kevin Willard who has already reached out to Mike Rice about a job on his Staff !!!!

Panther, I never mentioned Kevin Willard. This was brought up by SJU Grad 13.

My concern is St. John's. You made a pretty definitive statement that "Willard has already reached out to Mike Rice" "Rice feels the situation is better at St. Johns and is hoping to receive an offer from Mullin". Paultz indicated if CM wants him it could happen. Maybe you guys know something. I have seen no reporting of either happening. Of course, just because it isn't reported doesn't mean nothing is being considered. We will see.

sjc88 ........ it is safe to assume that what The Honorable "Panther2" says on this or any other topic is accurate.

If Rice is brought on, who goes?
Not Mullin or Matt :)

Could be something simple as someone moving on or roles being switched on the bench with someone moving to special assistant which is open when Mitch moved to the bench

How 'bout you guys just Trust the Process? It seems to me that Mullin & Co. have been doing a fine job overall. Not every decision has worked out, and they won't all work out in the future. But IMHO we've seen enough to this point that they're entitled to the benefit of the doubt - and your support for their decisions until proven otherwise.

It certainly doesn't do the program any good to have a bunch of internet message board yammering criticizing a decision that might or might not be made on a site that is here to support the team and the program. Maybe that's something for some of you to consider once in a while before you post.

Yes nationally security is at stake!

Let's just enjoy these times
They are good
And in comparison to the 1990s 2000s they are very good if not spectacular
:cheer: :) :silly:

Repeating an old message
Who could have done better after inheriting a single A / Div 3 / 1962 Mets expansion team?

Nice job Chris and staff
AND the idea of our own Elite camp is wondrous!!!

Team Rio's visit to #sjubb Wed. was the "most in depth" visit they've taken to St. John's, I'm told. A lot of video, Q&A.
