Thanks!
Seems like a great yearly event on campus -
Goodwill
Good publicity
what influence did last years have on recruits?

Per Zach B, Luther Muhammad will attend.

Looks like staff is preparing well for life after Lovett and Ponds.. great that Luther is attending. I'd guess we'd have to be in great shape at this point.

Postponed

2019s @BryanAntoine_ and @Scott_lewis_23 Will unofficially visit @StJohnsBBall Wednesday. Their Elite Camp has been postponed

Hear Matt will have a number of other kids on campus next week. The entire Rio team will be here Wednesday apparently.

8 on campus next week. The entire Rio team will be here Wednesday apparently. Hopefully their coach, Mike Rice makes an appearance. :)

Uh oh. I see a bunch of posts suggesting we hire Mike Rice. No thank you. Based on this I don't think this guy should be hired by St. John's.

The situation changed dramatically on April 2, 2013, when ESPN's Outside the Lines aired several hours of video from Rice's practices. According to ESPN, the video, provided to Pernetti by then-assistant coach Eric Murdock, showed Rice berating, pushing, kicking, cursing, using homophobic slurs, and throwing basketballs at players during practices.[

It was 4 yrs ago. A man can change. He would not be hired to be the head coach. He and D'Lo seemed to hit it off well. I don't see the 2 5*'s leaving him for a different aau team. He has to know if he blows this chance, he is done. I am for bringing him aboard

I would have a hard time with St. John's hiring a coach with a track record of treating student athletes in this manner. Yes people can change but we shouldn't be the one putting him back in any position coaching student athletes. We already had some similar situations and that coach was let go. I am not sure parents of the student athletes would be thrilled either. Sorry, I couldn't agree with the University hiring a person with this track record.

Balderdash!

The man deserves a second chance!

And I'm not saying this because he coaches two of the top players in the nation.

I'm saying it because he coaches a whole team of top players!

No reason for the camp postponement ? How minor league are we ?

Hope these kids didn't pass up a different camp.... I'd be turned off.

LOL. Too much risk and way too much bad publicity. We would be crucified by the media and rightfully so.

Because America is not know for second and in some instances third , fourth, and even more chances.

Then why has he not yet been hired? Maybe his 44-51, 3 year record at Rutgers has something to do with it? Or maybe no one wants to be the school that allows someone with his ahem (questionable) methods of "teaching" basketball to under age student athletes. By the way, besides the folks on this board there has never been any mention of him being brought on board at SJU. Why is that? He is carrying some heavy baggage that is not easy for any Administration to get past.

Maybe under the watchful eyes of Mullin and the other assistants he can be a useful part of the staff. Plenty of second chancers sprinkled throughout sports.

I don't see any way SJU goes out on a limb for Rice. Guaranteed negative press, maybe a handful of positive spin for the "second chance" here and there, but suddenly many of our past "issues" will get brought up again, Pittsburgh for one.

Per RedStormReport.com

Team Melo (MD) players Justin Lewis, Che Evans & Jason Murphy will all take an unofficial to St. John's on June 21st
