St. John's/Gtown game thread

How did we not get to that loose ball? We have to do a better job on stopping the 3. Damn, that was a costly missed free throw.

Oh sorry, I thought the game started already. : ). Just a little levity here, that's all.
 
Seth had some pretty nasty things to say about Gtown lately. Something about he was going to punish his kids by making them watch Gtown. Wonder what got his panties in a twist. Lot of the media sure loves to take shots at the C7. That's all I'll say.

I expect a big crowd. I will be there. Driving to Huntington for a half hour this morning I heard "Come watch St. John's basketball at the Garden taking on Georgetown! We are St. John's, we are...New York's team!" while listening to ESPN New York at least 4-5x...very cool and good to see that we are really getting more media exposure.

I don't care if it's 30-25 SJ. We need this win badly. It seems leading up to games like this the opponent is always "Low scoring", "Lots of turnovers", etc. and when they play us they have guys with career 30 pt games and can't miss while taking care of the ball. It feels like the exact opposite when we play these teams. Going into SF they were supposed to dominate rebounding but I think we held our own. Going into Cincy they were supposed to be a great scoring team and we held most of their players in check. Nova was not supposed to score a lot and their freshman exploded for 32. We are supposed to suck at rebounding but we dominated the boards vs. Rutgers. I wouldn't be shocked if G'Town scores at will all day. The question is can we keep up? Probably not considering we have 1 real scorer and a few "meh" scorers like Sampson, Garrett, Greene, etc. I just hope this doesn't turn into a blowout, because G'Town is due for a dominating performance after losing some inexcusable games, and I can't see them starting off 0-3 in the Big East. Hopefully we can still knock off a few other ranked teams.

This used to be a Saturday afternoon headline game and the TV suits obviously are in control of our schedule not us!
St. John's students will still be sleeping.
 
I'm hoping for 10,000. Am i asking too much? I wasn't there but the paper said 6k vs Rutgers-- can anyone that was there comment on how empty the place was Wednesday night?
 
Great pass by Sanchez to Sampson for the dunk! Sanchez is a very good interior passer, if we only had him hear for the entire season.

TV of course. It seems Big East is on every Sat at 11 am.
 
I have a very good gut feeling about the attendance today. Lots of people I know are going who were waiting for the first "headliner" game at MSG. This is the first true game where we have a real ranked opponent at the Garden and the rivalry from back in the day definitely adds spice to it. This is the only Saturday game at MSG vs. a ranked/top opponent on the schedule, so I would imagine this would be the best attended game all year for us at home.

less then 6K. Place was empty and I thought Saturday's game is at 11 because of the NFL playoffs but the 1st game doesnt start till 4:30
