St. John's basketball family should be embarrassed

This entire season, from the 0-5 start in the big east up to today should be an embarrassment to the basketball program. A defense that did not exist, except when a shot was blocked, no visible offensive game plan, terrible shooting, terrible rebounding, inability to defend in bound plays under the basket, comical foul shooting, needless constant substitution of players by the coach instead of playing the best 5, no heart in games that meant making the tournament and no improvement from game 1 of the season. This all adds up to a coach and program that is going no place. Recruits will begin to opt out from chosing SJU when they can easily see what is happening. Changes MUST BE MADE NOW.

I was suspicious when they won their first exhibition game agains San Francisco State (D II) by 1. Never got consistent,

By the way, if this is the biggest embarrassment, you must have missed the Mahoney Jarvis, and Roberts times.
 
You people are morons; I am not embarrassed it was a bad loss should do more but embarrassing I don;t think so. I just sat through Jarvis and Norm Roberts.
 
No...I have watched SJU basketball for over 40 years.....this is embarrassing because of the items I spoke of......terrible college level basketball. What is going on is indicative of serious problems within this basketball program...time to face reality and change things.

Remember the lady who would knit at all of the games during the Mahoney era? We give new meaning to the term "suffering fans."

If you're not embarrassed, you don't know what basketball is supposed to look like.

Please stop with the Mahoney, Jarvis, Roberts comparisons. We all saw it and using them to set a level of expectation is signing up to be average.
 
If your embarrassed by a loss today than your life is pretty pathetic.

Or your life is pretty boring if this is all you live for.

I am a huge fan but life goes on and I am not going to sit on a message board all night discussing how i feel embarrassed.
 
I've played hoops for years and followed this team for 25 years. I know what it looks like I am just not a pathetic individual who's life is Johnnies basketball.

I've long thought some of these folks lives were pretty pathetic. Like clockwork, some of 'em doesn't disappoint.

As angry as all of us are, you just seem to be around after brutal losses. I don't remember your eloquence during the team's winning streak.
 
I just restarted the Fire Lavin debate, but no I am not embarrassed. I just want a different coach. Frustrated, but not embarrassed. I simply think the program can do better, but this isn't embarrassing.
 
I really like to just come on here after losses and look at grown men who act like the world just ended because a bunch of 18 to 22 year old kids lost a game today. It is absolutely pathetic.

Am i upset we lost today damn straight but to say I feel embarrassed nah don't think so.

I only like posting when there is stupid jibberish- like to keep things honest around here.

The post I scooped up from Hoyatalk just reinforces my point.

I was irked earlier, and still a tad annoyed that we blew it. But life goes on. I don't care for the NIT, but as much as I don't want any part of it.... I'll be watching us playing in it, if that is the hand we're dealt.

It's funny reading the people who like to defend Lavin by bringing up Norm. A year or two ago you were insulted when they were put in the same sentence. Now all you of you are hyprocrites by doing so in order to defend Lav.

Funny thing is there's no argument to be made. In actuality Norm served his purpose just fine. He cleaned up a program that had turned into scum. What has Lavin done? The guy makes excuse after excuse after excuse. And THAT is my problem. Take some accountability Stevie cause this nice-guy excuse bs doesn't suit anybody well. It's only the clueless apologists who are still buying that crap.
