Letting Cragg know those seat “upgrades” he ordered off Amazon aren’t going to cut it anymore.

I feel a little like I did as a middle schooler watching the Beatles advertised show on Ed Sullivan where they came on for five minutes at the beginning and then for another five minutes at the end with jugglers, comedians and magicians in between.
Thanks. It was a little surreal because Pitino is being interviewed kid goes down and I am thinking oh no who is that. Then I saw the number and was hoping he was good. It didn’t look good. They just kept talking right through it all. Good to hear he looked ok. Don’t need anymore injuries.Saw that. The next live look-in Drissa was sitting on the scorers table. After another look-in he was standing with the team after drills were over. I think he is ok.
We played PC in the Big East Tournament when Pitino had Delray Brooks and Billy Donovan. I was in school at the time and went to the Garden. Donovan looked like the Pillsbury dough boy. He was chubby and pasty white. The joke was on us that night. They drilled us bad. Bombs away. We couldn’t stop them. That night we were just overwhelmed.Billy asked to transfer to Northeastern and when Pitino called the coach there the coach said he had no use for him
Could be a complete Joke... could be a complete foreshadowing....Did anyone catch that comment Rick made re. Cragg?
As a younger fan I’ve never seen this. Uncharted waters sadly. We deserve these times ahead. It’s interesting to see that many of the younger fans are so amazed at the attention we are getting as a result of RP. But , a large number of those fans he’d never experienced the real Glory days of our Schools standing in College Basketball going back to the Lapchick Era .
Lapchick walked among the Giants of Basketball back then . He was universally admired by the NY Press .
He was used to rubbing elbows with the Woodens , Clair Bee , Nat Holman , Rupps , etc among the Coaching Fraternity .
Jabber has said on more than 1 occasion he probably would have to come to St Johns had Lapchick remained as Coach . He had a Special relationship with Joe as Lapchick had the experience of being a “ Big Man “ back then . I’m talking about height as Joe part of the Original Celtics was one of the tallest players at that time , Kareem related to that.
That respect for St John ‘s continued under Louie and remember in the mid 80’s we were final 4 and BE Champs in 86 with Berry and Jackson .
So a whole lot of the now 70 year old plus Icons of Basketball , Greenberg , Vitale , Rafferty , Boeheim , Knight , Coach K , Etc have a lifetime of memories and fond ones of those Glory days . Even RP has a devotion to our School and Program gave him impetus to come here and return us to our Rightful perch .
Yes , their is a Buzz about RP and what he will do for this program . It’s a long time coming .
+100Having a SJU basketball practice featured throughout a 90 minute Sportscenter is worth more than its weight in gold. The diehards know the impact of Pitino, but now the casuals are paying more attention. Certainly doesn’t hurt with future potential recruits.
By me, (Chuck Taylor’s) they were in a bin at Bohack’s. We use to call them the Bohack special. They were what your parents wore for you to go to gym class. The Clyde’s and later the Nike’s were for basketball games. At least in my house.Pitino mentioned taking the bus from Cambria Heights to Jamaica and spending $4.50 to buy illregular Chuck Taylor’s.
Must have taken either the Q4 or the Q4A (now the Q84) to Jamaica Avenue and went to Modells (although I am younger, even in my early teenage years, they were know more for illregular and surplus/overstock items).

it was a BS backhanded compliment if you even want to call it that because in the next sentence he basically said "yea but i got rid of all of them except 2 because they were a square peg in a round hole"it's obvious someone got in his ear about throwing CMA and the guys on his team under the bus.
I was shocked when Pitino said CMA did a great job recruiting.....
Complete 180 from the what's he's been saying
Generational. At point in the 60s, Cons were the only shoe a serious player wore. They were about $12 a pair. Then adidas came out with the Superstars, white leather with 3 black stripes for about $30. No one wore them outside, too expensive. Keds release a serious canvas competitor to Cons called Pro Keds, and later a leather version. For bball you'd wear high top cons to protect your ankles. Puma Clydes were sharp but a total piece of crap to wear indoors. The soles were hard and slippery and Frazier once famously lost both trying to guard the Rockets Mike Newlin in the waning moments of a close game. You could wear out a pair of Cons on asphalt in less than 2 weeks and queens kids tried all kinds of masking and electrical tape remedies to hold them together till you scraped up enough for a new pair.By me, (Chuck Taylor’s) they were in a bin at Bohack’s. Ironically, I see young kids mostly girls wear them today as “fashionable“. Go figure.
