It’s interesting to see that many of the younger fans are so amazed at the attention we are getting as a result of RP. But , a large number of those fans he’d never experienced the real Glory days of our Schools standing in College Basketball going back to the Lapchick Era .

Lapchick walked among the Giants of Basketball back then . He was universally admired by the NY Press .
He was used to rubbing elbows with the Woodens , Clair Bee , Nat Holman , Rupps , etc among the Coaching Fraternity .

Jabber has said on more than 1 occasion he probably would have to come to St Johns had Lapchick remained as Coach . He had a Special relationship with Joe as Lapchick had the experience of being a “ Big Man “ back then . I’m talking about height as Joe part of the Original Celtics was one of the tallest players at that time , Kareem related to that.

That respect for St John ‘s continued under Louie and remember in the mid 80’s we were final 4 and BE Champs in 86 with Berry and Jackson .

So a whole lot of the now 70 year old plus Icons of Basketball , Greenberg , Vitale , Rafferty , Boeheim , Knight , Coach K , Etc have a lifetime of memories and fond ones of those Glory days . Even RP has a devotion to our School and Program gave him impetus to come here and return us to our Rightful perch .

Yes , their is a Buzz about RP and what he will do for this program . It’s a long time coming .

Sounds like another clip coming up in second half hour where Greenberg will interview Lou. I'll stick around for that.

ESPN hosts Seth Greenberg and Kevin Negandhi will visit Carnesecca Arena for a St. John’s men’s basketball practice with live segments to be aired on SportsCenter beginning at 6 p.m.

I don’t think this ESPN show is anything like we were expecting . Great interview with Rick but , who cares about Providence in 1987? They spent more time babbling about nothing but , this year’s team .

Like a Seinfeld episode . Lots of Commercials though .

I was trying to watch the Scrimmage going on but , it looked a little sloppy to me . Maybe the guys were a little nervous .

Too much NFL stuff . Greenberg interviewing Louie after they finish their football .

Unless there is more to this Coverage than what has bern shown , it’s very disappointing .
 
I feel a little like I did as a middle schooler watching the Beatles advertised show on Ed Sullivan where they came on for five minutes at the beginning and then for another five minutes at the end with jugglers, comedians and magicians in between.
