South Carolina, Tues. Dec. 22, 9pm, CBS Sp& 570AM

Sitting on the scorer's table not only gives off the impression that you don't care, it is disrespectful to the people sitting at that table. Especially the guy that was right behind him. I would have taken a cup of water and spilled it on the table if I had been that guy.

Really? If Mullin was blocking someone's view I honestly believe if a fan right behind him politely said, "Hey coach, I can't see over you!", Mullin would have moved. When we sat behind Looie a million years ago, we'd banter with him all the time... He'd listen and often respond, "You don't know what you're talking about", or some other playful response.

Look the point is that I dont think you would see any other coach do that and it just doesnt look right. Can you name another coach who you think would even sit on the scorers table during a tv game no less? I dont have a problem with the sneakers, I like them. I understand that the team was put together over night and the ncaa wants to not only stick the knife in us but wants to twist it before they pull it out over the Lovett ban. But sitting on the table? Sometimes we all make mistakes, I think he made it by doing that and I hope he doesnt do it again. BTW- here is an amusing footnote which I add tongue in cheek for a laugh only- I happened to notice that the school president and his wife were at the game and sitting right around that area. Maybe it is best that he blocked their view lol
+1 for making me laugh :)

Along came Polly was a terrible movie but Jennifer Aniston was in her prime so I watched the whole movie Why do I bring it up? Ellison today reminded me of the scene where the late Phillip Seymour Hoffman plays basketball. I think he stole some of his shots from Hoffman.

WASJU I cant believe your review of Along came Polly. That is some of PSH best work. The scene at the end when he steps in for Stiller to deliver the pitch on behalf of the Aussie's life insurance is pure brilliance.

For anybody who needs to get the SC game of their minds..

mjmaherjr I totally agree with your analysis of tablegate. In 30 yrs of coaching I've never seen a coach sit on the scores table. It sends the wrong message to your team, the fans, and potential recruits .Anyone who defends this behavior is just wrong. I guaranty you will never see coach sit on the scores table again.

At least he didn't lay down on the scorer's table ala another SJU figure Ron Artest. Someone could have thrown a cup of water on him and we could have had Mo Malice at the Mohegan! :)

Mullin only would let someone throw perrier on him. Dasani would definitely cause a fight

The thing about crappy seasons is we spend a lot of time talking about what doesn't warrant discussion.

But I do remember back in 1928, Buck Freeman fell asleep in his Model T during a game.

What I do find exhausting is all of our historical references from 40-50 years ago.

Does anyone remember Frank Mulzoff actually left the bench and sat in the stands during a game at Alumni Hall leaving his assistant Chuck McCauley by himself. I do.

I once saw a coach go out onto the court and "teach" his best defender the proper defensive stance right before a TV timeout. After that I can accept anything a SJU coach does.

Frank was coach when Looie was with the Nets.

TableGate doesn't bother me one bit. He was probably not too thrilled with how the team has played the last three games and needed to clear his mind. He is not a robot and is still finding his way on the sideline. Doubt it will happen again. If he did it during the 'Cuse game the reaction would be different. A few bad losses magnifies all kinds of trivial stuff...

Or maybe Slice and Mitch overdid it at the pre-game burrito buffet and Coach needed some air.

that's more of a strong lean with feet on the ground. Mullin was a full blown sit with feet dangling in the air :)

Yeah, we're going to remember your guaranty the next time he does it. ;)

As soon as Looie was done with the Nets, he came back and Mulzoff was gone.
