So....when do we crack the top 25

With the outstanding victory at the Carrier Dome and with teams that had received points in the polls ahead of SJU losing this past week, ie UCONN/Cuse, and others, how many points will SJU receive this week in the polls, and when do we crack into the top 25?

Cuse wasn't ranked so I don't see is jumping into the top 25. A lot of ranked teams feel, but the pollsters always give the Michigans and Michigan States if the world the benefit of the doubt before dropping them. I think if we keep winning we can get in next week. It would be great if us and SHU are ranked for that game.

Agree we may not get ranked yet. Great road win, but Cuse is unranked & may be one of their weaker teams in some time. I think their absence of credible outside shooting to date will haunt them this year. The game that I have circled before BE play is St. Mary's. Win that & we probably go into BE play ranked. St. M is much better than Long Beach State, but we can't take them lightly either.

According to the AP Poll, here are all of the teams that were ahead (starting with Michigan who lost) of us last time around. You be the judge. Have enough teams lost that we'd jump them into the to 25?

17 Michigan 5-1 454
18 Arkansas 6-0 438
19 Michigan St 5-2 423
20 Iowa State 3-1 330
21 Maryland 7-0 306
22 Oklahoma 4-2 254
23 Butler 5-1 222
24 Illinois 6-0 104
25 Utah 5-1 88
Northern Iowa 83,
Connecticut 76,
Oklahoma St 69,
Providence 56,
Virginia Commonwealth 52,
Syracuse 49,
Florida 40,
Georgetown 30,
Creighton 29,
Washington 17,
NC State 12,
Wyoming 10,
California 8,
Seton Hall 5,
St. John's 5,

I made a post about this yesterday on another forum. I think we're ranked Monday.

Teams ranked 15-25 who lost this week:
#15 Miami lost to Green Bay. Don't think they'll drop out the rankings though.
#16 WVU lost to LSU. Don't think they'll drop out of the rankings.
#17 Michigan lost to NJIT. This is their second loss and they don't have a huge win. I think they should be out.
#18 Arkansas lost @ #20 iSU. Probably won't drop out just lose some ground. Again though, they don't have a big time win.
#19 Michigan State lost @ ND and now has 3 losses. I think they should be out.
#20 Iowa State is safe.
#21 Maryland lost to #7 UVA. I could see them dropping out of the rankings.
#22 Oklahoma is safe.
#23 Butler is safe.
#24 Illinois lost @ #15 Miami. Should be knocked out they don't have big time wins.
#25 Utah is safe.

WVU and Arkansas play games they should win today.

If you compare our resume with most of those teams our's is clearly better.

If we run the table from now through the sh game we will be. Minnesota and cuse are good resume winsfor the NCAAs but this was not a 30 win Syracuse team we played like they've been last five years.

Btw top 25 ranking is nice but I would rather just have a good rpi and get a good seed for the NCAAs (stay out of the 8/9 game)....

Cannot have let down games next few weeks....imperative we have one loss going into seton hall.

I think Florida might get in there before us because of their win at Kansas

Did you watch the second half of that game? I'm not worried about this :silly:

I think we're in. A telling measure is the Gonzaga/AZ game and most observers who are not jaded as we are, are looking at St. John's as a very dangerous team full of seniors, the best shot blocker in the country and one of the best scorers in the country and a super soph. Saying Cuse is down is one thing but winning at the Dome and ending a 55 game streak is a statement.

Oh god I didn't even see that they lost? Didn't watch game but could've sworn I saw some tweet by like Jeff Goodman that said he was impressed with Florida winning

They were down 18 and came back and won.

I am in agreement with you now that I realize that Florida lost :) . I agree this win maybe not seem as big to some fans because Syracuse is down this year, but it is still Syracuse, at Syracuse. That team didn't look great but you know they will find a way to make the tournament.

It’ll be close. If Washington beats #13 San Diego State tonight, you have to think they get in.
Notre Dame beat #19 Michigan State this week. But more than a couple of teams may fall off. At the very least we are a now a team to be feared.

Just one guy but proves how much last night's win meant and how solid our resume is overall. Some of you guys are giving way too much credit to the teams in the second half of the rankings. Seriously, look up the resumes of those teams and tell me SJU's isn't better than most of them. 2 very solid wins and neither at home. Only 1 loss to a top 10 team. Most teams 15-25 don't have that.

Pretty sure the Minnesota win will be viewed as a home game.

Then I hope our Duke game and Syracuse game next year (if they renew the series at MSG) are viewed as away games for SJU.

Regardless, they're still a top 25 team if you compare them to the other top 25 teams.

Minnesota game is neutral court. And also cbs sports is just one guys like prediction. He's been off the last few weeks. But if he has us at #15, I think the ap polls with have us around the 22-25 range.
