Slice $$

A friend of mine played basketball with him in college. We talked to him for a while at a high school game. I could see how he could rub you the wrong way but isn't that bad. There are two sides to every story.

"...but isn't that bad."??? Not exactly a ringing endorsement ;)

I got the impression that he thinks he is cool but really just another old school Brooklyn guy.

Seems like a real piece of shi#. With that said, you don't give a character of that sort a contract like the one administration gave him. I know plenty of crappy people who would do exactly what he is doing now.

Since we do not know the facts of the dispute I suggest we all refrain from name calling.
When he came on board 28 months ago we were all jumping for joy.
In defence of Slice I was told that the school stopped paying him and this has provoked litigation, but that it may be settled in the near future.
I certainly hope so for both parties as this has been a very unfortunate turn of events for all parties.

agree Finally, someone with common sense

So a 2 minute talk in HS you cam determine his character??

So rather then settle with the school and move forward with his career, he'd rather sit home on his fat ass and collect a hefty paycheck for doing nothing. And at the same time give up valuable working years in the prime of his life. Am I the only one who thinks the guy is being a douche? My only encounter with Slice was is the lobby of CA when fans were waiting on line to select their season tix. Right before his lone year here. He stood behind the registration table in a designer sweat suit with is arms folded like some arrogant gangster. He didn't so much as acknowledge one fan, and there were many waiting on line. I don't know the guy from a hole in the wall, but that did not leave a very good impression on me.

GUY happens to be a really nice guy who got shafted

Do you know him personally? If so, I'll take your word for it.

YES i do HE IS MY COUSINS BEST FRIEND MET AND SPOKE MANY MANY TIMES
Think the posters should should let it work out with everyone's attys Contracts happen and do not work out and stop with the name calling when they do not know the factsThats all I will say about it

I don't know his morale fiber but I could relate to the guy. That doesn't take me long to figure out. My friend spent a lot of time with him in college when they played together liked him although that was a long time time ago.

WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT Never said my cousin was Mullins best friend BUT slice WAS VERY GOOD FRIENDS WITH MULLIN GOING BACK MANY YRS Here is something guess you may not be aware of even best friends can break up a friendship for a reason
Start thinking about something more constructive Lets end this silly story what happened happened unless you want to enlighten us what really went down between the parties

Slice is toast (what a delicious pun). He has not been successful at any coaching stop since Pitt. He has as much chance in getting another job in cbb as Bobby Gonzalez and at least Gonzo has a winning record and a sweet man purse!

That 2MM might be the last of his earned money. He's going to keep it.

Not bad 2 MIL MANY OF OUR POSTERS WOULD BE GLAD TO HAVE IT AND RETIRE

You are literally the only person on this site to not understand what OLV72 said.
I said he was very good friends seems pretty close But guess you also want to keep Slice post going for what reason I will never know seems like the ship has sailed

I'd just like to see us cut this turd loose and hire an assistant like most teams have, who can both coach and recruit...

Agree thought Richmond was an answer but does not appear so.Not knowing his background other than NNBA all Star Guess like Mullin he lack experience which we need

What "answer" are you looking for?? More like a miracle. Starting with programs not in great shape but certainly better than what Mullin and co. inherited Coach K was 28-42 in his first 5 years in the ACC and Coach Calhoun was 53-63 in his first 7 years in the BE. How did their careers pan out? I have no idea if Mullin will even remotely approach that level but he and staff have a multi-tiered plan and are working that plan unlike every other coach we have had since Louie. Plan A is running with the big boys and that is a challenge at this point to say the least but it set the bar high from jump street and let people know we are in the game. I am not a huge "ratings" guy but I would expect we currently have as high or close to as high a rated team on paper as we have ever had. That certainly means little until it translates to W's but personally I am very impressed with the talent we have been able to get in essentially two years literally starting from scratch. As far as experience goes that is tricky and can be over-rated; how much of a difference maker was Gene Keady to Lavin's underachieving teams?

I don't think Slice is holding us back from hiring said assistant.

He is and couple that with the fact that there is no position open at the present time.

Mullin could easily restructure his contract if money was an issue with getting a quality assistant.
