Fwiw, heard the issue is being resolved. We'll see, but perhaps opportunity comes from this if true.

I should hope so. It has hurt us quite a bit thus far. Matt is awesome, but needs help on the recruiting trail, and we could use a strong tactician as well. Fingers crossed.

So you think we'll have a few scheckels left to pursue another Assistant ?

They were in mediation 2 weeks ago. A regular customer of mine is tight with slice. Heard it's been real ugly. FWIW

Four years left on contract? So I assume if we've forbidden him to show his face at events, etc., we need Slice to believe that doing nothing and collecting more than $2 million is worse than risking becoming a forgotten man. I personally think it is, so I guess the key is convincing him to settle for . . . $1.25 million and his freedom? It seems like it would be easier to do if he has a job waiting, but I don't think that's the case this late in the year.

So rather then settle with the school and move forward with his career, he'd rather sit home on his fat ass and collect a hefty paycheck for doing nothing. And at the same time give up valuable working years in the prime of his life. Am I the only one who thinks the guy is being a douche? My only encounter with Slice was is the lobby of CA when fans were waiting on line to select their season tix. Right before his lone year here. He stood behind the registration table in a designer sweat suit with is arms folded like some arrogant gangster. He didn't so much as acknowledge one fan, and there were many waiting on line. I don't know the guy from a hole in the wall, but that did not leave a very good impression on me.

SJUis more to blame than Slice. They made the bad deal. In all honesty, how many people on his board would go out seeking a job if they can get 500,000 a year for sitting on their arse. That said. I hope this gets resolved.

My only interaction with Slice is I attended the St. Johns at Marquette Game his first year. Our seats were right behind the bench and he stood right in front of us staring like why are you here. Was not nice at all did not mention "Thanks for coming" A big change from the Lavin days when I attended away games and he acknowledged the fans for making the trek to away games. Does not seem like a nice guy.

Seems like a real piece of shi#. With that said, you don't give a character of that sort a contract like the one administration gave him. I know plenty of crappy people who would do exactly what he is doing now.

Since we do not know the facts of the dispute I suggest we all refrain from name calling.
When he came on board 28 months ago we were all jumping for joy.
In defence of Slice I was told that the school stopped paying him and this has provoked litigation, but that it may be settled in the near future.
I certainly hope so for both parties as this has been a very unfortunate turn of events for all parties.

Not really an unfortunate turn of events more like business as usual in the world of St. John's basketball.

Do you know him personally? If so, I'll take your word for it.

A friend of mine played basketball with him in college. We talked to him for a while at a high school game. I could see how he could rub you the wrong way but isn't that bad. There are two sides to every story.

"...but isn't that bad."??? Not exactly a ringing endorsement ;)
