SJU Trivia

I'll take a wild guess that number 23 in the front row's name is McDonald. The first time I saw SJU play was vs Santa Clara and Kenny Sears. A player the size of 23 pushed Sears all over the court and held him scoreless. Sears was an AA.

No. 23 is a player named Dick Grogan.

This is the 1955 team. And I have never heard of one of these players. I'm actually wondering if this is a freshman or junior varsity team.

I think it is Dusty Destafano who came after Frank McGuire and before Lapchick.

Well done.

Bonus: Name one player in that picture.

Mike Parenti (#27), Bill Chrystal (#24), Walter Brady (#15), Hal Pascal (#18), Joe Montana (#22), Ken Cruz (#12), ???
Marty Satalino (#20), ???, Pete Carroll (#23), ???, Gerry Lawrence (#17) and Pete Hassett (#14).

The 3 ??? players are Ed Cunningham, John Lamarca and Dick Grogan

Thank you.

Name three people in this photo.

This is a great thread, guys. Thanks for posting the old images and the walk through SJU history.

Someone should create an SJU basketball quiz on Sporcle. We would need an up to date media guide probably, but there are some good quizzes we could create.

There is no question. I just think the photo and caption are the epitome of cool.

Sporcle helped me get through college haha

This is the captain of the 1955 team.
If anyone can identify him without help from the interwebs (I'm looking at you gonzo), you will forever have my respect along with my enduring suspicion that you do nothing more than eat, sleep and breath St. John's basketball.
