Juice WRLD to Highlight Red Storm Tip-Off
Chicago-born artist to perform in Carnesecca Arena on Oct. 18

· Web Release

QUEENS, N.Y. (Oct. 3, 2019) – Juice WRLD, a star in the music world that transcends traditional genre, will highlight the St. John’s Basketball programs’ annual Red Storm Tip-Off event on Oct. 18 inside Carnesecca Arena.

Red Storm Tip-Off, which signals the unofficial start of the upcoming men’s and women’s basketball campaigns, will welcome the 20-year-old Chicago native who burst onto the national scene with his single “Lucid Dreams” in 2018, peaking at no. 2 in the Billboard Hot 100 chart. “Lucid Dreams” was also at one point the most streamed song on YouTube in the U.S. and globally on Spotify. Combined, “Lucid Dreams” had more than 1.1 billion video and audio streams in 2018.

Juice WRLD saw four other singles from his first full-length project Goodbye & Good Riddance find spots on the Billboard Hot 100. The album peaked at no. 6 on the Apple Music worldwide Top Albums chart and no. 4 on the Billboard 200.

Solid music choice. Lucid Dreams was a pretty big hit last year and will obviously help pack the arena.

I might be wrong, but wasn't he in Buffalo Springfield?

I see where Kansas opened up with a practice and that the University had to apologize for their entertainment, Snoop Dawg? Who would have thought that. Certainly not the brains that run that state school. F Bombs, stripper poles, etc;

Looks like my streak of not knowing the musical guest continues. The good news is this means it's probably a perfect choice.

____________

No doubt that all of the dinosaurs on this site have "Lucid Dreams" on their play list.

Given the fact that the event is for students and the athletes I am glad that The Honorables Mike Cragg and Coach Anderson made a good selection.

Lol, well it loosely samples a Sting song, so maybe some here would recognize it.

Regardless, as you mentioned definitely a good pick for students/athletes.

I mentioned it to my 16 yr old daughter... She said it was a solid choice the students would like.

over 378 million views for that hit song.

Very cool.

I hope he's bringing along Kyle and his son.

I would imagine Elijah, Grady, and Keita aren't welcome. Would say the same of WIllie but he and Mo got in trouble together so . . .

Kyle Cuffe will be attending Midnight Madness. His son Kyle Jr., who is attending Blair Academy, has been invited as a recruit. I have not seen him play but have been told that he is an athletic wing player. He is Class of 2022.

Different player than his father; as you shared, very athletic, very active, really good all around prospect. His commitment is obviously several years away but I have talked to him and the SJU staff is on him early. Eventually serious competition for him will be there.

Just what the bare minimum search got me for each of the ‘21 guests listed for tip off.

Kacper Klaczek - 6’8 sf -“is a super athletic wing. Solid 3 point shooter, excellent rebounder & passer for his size. Klaczek has heard from Stanford, Arizona, TCU, GT, Utah, San Diego, WKU, UC Santa Barbara, and holds offers from Washington State & Santa Clara. #LuHiBasketball”

Drissa Traore 6’7 sf Harlem

Rafael Pinzon SG 6’5 4 star

Andres Marrero 6’4 Pg from Venezuela

Maximus Edwards- Just transferred to Our Savior Lutheran. - “6-foot-4 guard averaged 27 points, 10 rebounds and six assists per game, leading Bunnell to the South-West Conference tournament title and to the Division II state tournament quarterfinals.”

Everything I find on Edwards says he transferred to OSL in Long Island. Wondering if he's actually at LuHi, or if it's just a bunch of people who don't know OSL is in the Bronx.
