SJU Practices & Player Development

As a few guys have noted, Dunlap has enormous potential and is a pure shooter. Like most four year guys, he just needs to add strength which obviously staff has established as a key priority.

With his size, stroke & additional strength, he seems destined to be quite a force in the BE in due time & super addition. Playing & practicing with the SJU experienced guards will also benefit him a ton.
Agree that a Weight Training for BB players is very important but , I don’t think you want Sharpshooters looking like Body Builders or Linebackers .

Front Court players can use Muscle for strength .
Dunlap , from the limited Reports so far , appears to be a terrific Recruit . As is Wilcher . Pitino seems Ecstatic about his Frosh duo .

A couple of quick questions ....... if I recall correctly there was a time when college basketball teams could not hold practices with a coach present until October 1st.

When did the rule change to allow organized practices during the summer months?

Is the school obligated to provide the players with meal money during summer practice times?

Thanks.

With the QS for Ledlum swap, the door is now open a little wider for shooters at the wing positions.

I believe for new coaches they allow earlier practices

Just goes to show how irrelevant we were when the rule did change. Only time I recall reports on summer workouts was when the team had an upcoming international trip.

Rule changed several years ago. There is a limited amount you are allowed per week (might be a total of four no more for no more than two hours each). We did them under Anderson also.

The above is from June 2020. From the article:

“Beginning July 20, required summer athletics activities may begin and can last up to eight weeks or until the school's first day of classes or Sept. 15, whichever is earlier. Required virtual nonphysical activities can continue to be conducted during this period. Virtual and in-person activities cannot exceed a combined eight hours per week.”
