SJU Practices & Player Development

Can't judge much from pictures but the guys look like big East players outside of Soriano jones and wsu last year we didn't . Can't wait for exhibition it's not 40 minutes of hell but 40 minutes of basketball

Heard again Brady looked good not starting just he hits his shots nothing more nothing less but he will find time . Didn’t hear a word about anyone else the other day it was just wow he had range
I just hope it translates into games. We’ve had too many guys throughout the years with unlimited range in practice but brick city when it mattered.

I think it will translate. A lot of the “shooters” we’ve had in the past couldn’t get their shots off against BE defenders because their releases were too slow. Brady appears to have a lightening quick release … being 6’7” will help as well

Ok, I'm gonna be that annoying guy who can't determine who's who.

1. Who is No. 2 with the reverse layup?
2. Is RJ Luis wearing No. 21? (btw, that number should be retired twice)
3. Who is no. 24 hitting the turnaround jumper over Joel?
4. Who is the player catching a pass from Dingle, dribbling and hitting a J?
5. Is Wilcher No. 23 - the guy at the end passing to the high post?

I still don't understand how we can't purchase the great Nike gear players and staff get. I would love to buy the shirt Wilcher has on. Someone is dropping the ball hard on this.

There are always specific gear for college and pro teams that are for the team only and are not for sale. That being said, you are right about not being able to purchase great Nike St. John’s sport gear. It might because they don’t think it will sell or it is because of the production schedule for merchandise (as Moose or someone else explained the process and timing once before on the Board) but with the hype and interest since Rick Pitino became coach, you would think that would change.

I also don’t believe the team has really gotten all of their practice gear and would not be surprised if they are wearing some different gear come fall practice.

Last point, a couple of years ago after the team debuted white warmup shoot around hoodies with the STJ logo in Red. The school then wound up selling one’s exactly like the team was wearing. I brought one and while maybe not the most practical, it is nice after being at the beach all day in the sun to put on as it long sleeve and very light weight. Most importantly for me, it actually is “true” to size as a red one they offered a year or two later runs extremely small.

Oh and the guys look good at practice.

1. #2 is Ayo
2. Yes Luis is #21
3. Zuby #24 with the turnaround
4. That’s Ayo again
5. Yes Wilcher #23

Wilcher looks so young.
Conway looks good man. No wasted movement and quick release. I don’t shy away from taking hard stances but I seriously don’t know if this kid will play 20 minutes or 2. Coaches love these types of kids and he is one of our strongest players.

I’d redshirt Ayo and suspect Rick will. Lots of upside. I loved that kid‘s potential when I saw him as a soph in high school and I still see it to a lower ceiling now.

Good Paragraphing ! Nice to see the summer has kept us in check writing wise .

As for the gear , is it possible the official team stuff reserved only for Players is deemed too expensive for widespread distribution ?

Of course , knowing all the well heeled Alums , fans that should not be a obstacle for us Redmen . Com people .

Presume everyone just got their latest Alumni magazine ? New Dean for Business School. Did the previous Dean Sharpe enter the Portal ?

I’m sure JSJ has the details ? Just curious .

Team looks good in practice clip .

As a few guys have noted, Dunlap has enormous potential and is a pure shooter. Like most four year guys, he just needs to add strength which obviously staff has established as a key priority.

With his size, stroke & additional strength, he seems destined to be quite a force in the BE in due time & super addition. Playing & practicing with the SJU experienced guards will also benefit him a ton.
