SJU Portal Targets

With a contract of this size I am not surprised in the least of language detail lulls with respective lawyer groups. Pay these firms the wknd hours, make it a Holy Saturday for all.

There has to be some under the radar guys who just know how to play a textbook PG.

Thinking what Kolek became coming from George Mason. Even his first year at Marquette. Just knew how to distribute.

If staff can evaluate talent and coach up, we don't need a $4M PG

Rick’s first team had Daniss and no backup pg and it hurt us.

We can also use a PG that can cover quick and shifty guards. I don't know enough about our new guys, but it was nice to have Deivon Smith on Steven Ashford and some others.
Excellent point.Mug destroyed us at msg in Rick’s first season. We cured that weakness last season with Smith.

There has to be a stud (or good) PG somewhere who has the desire to play 35 minutes a night and star on Broadway, right? I know the portal is closing soon so that guy still has to appear I guess because I can’t imagine with all this big game hunting, they don’t have a plan for a PG.

Not saying this guy is any good but we are listed with him:

Trust me, I am not making an endorsement. lol.

I do think Drake could end up with two years left, and if he's our backup 1, I'm fine with that. But goes right back to the, who is our starter... lol
I would feel better if him and or Johnson were more of a lead guard. Drake to me looks to be more of that out of the two but Johnson the more accomplished player.

FWIW here are Drake’s numbers the last 10 games of the season. He really turned it on.

I agree. Drake and Johnson also haven't played against a lot of top competition. Johnson's track record, in particular, is very spotty. But if Drake is cheaper and willing to grind for two years & be satisfied not having a big role, I'd probably take it for insurance. But I'd really want Acaden (or someone better, obviously!) in that case.

Since he played that year in juco in between Cleveland St and that court case is happening, I'm pretty sure he would only be a junior for eligibility purposes.

The strange thing is Wilcher would have done so much damage and put up wild stats if he played at the schools of some of the guys we are rumored with played.

Really makes you wonder if kids like Sim are better off going to a team in a lower level with guaranteed 30 minutes and hitting the portal as a soph averaging 20 and 6.
