SJU Portal Targets

1) Appreciate all the DM's about Xaivian but really can't comment except like everyone he has a lot of respect for coach and the program being built. It's not about the dollars here and he is fortunate through hard work to put himself in a great position. Hes a great kid and has a tough decision to make. He is not a lean at this point.
2) What I've heard ...Sellers in. Jackson USC (he likes Muss)making push but I would be shocked if its not SJ. They LOVE Mitchell. Hes a winning kid with his attitude...heard hes in as well. Watkins ...dont love his team and not sure SJ will get involved again.
It's great to be a Johnnie!! How times have changed

I think there's 2 ways Watkins still being a priority target here would make sense.

1) Jackson isn't quite a done deal yet. Trilly said this morning that Jackson isn't locked in yet and his recruitment is more open than people think. It's also been said he's asking for a ridiculous NIL figure.
2) The plan if we miss on Lee is to go PG by committee with Watkins, Jackson, Sim all playing minutes at point. None of them are close to being true points but all have either some experience playing on the ball or have the tools to theoretically be able to handle it for stretches.

The next 7 days might be wild
Regarding 2…. Agreed about sharing the load Rick will still want a PG even if he might not be at the level to start, I think this is where Honor Huff could still be a target. Not the length you want defensively but when we NEED a PG he would be on the floor.

Alumni Hall is a Chattanooga fan, what say ye?
I saw Huff play in 2 NIT games this year (definitely not because I have a sports betting ‘problem’) and I can confidently say if he transfers to the Big East he’ll perform somewhere between the Mikey Dixon and Jimmer Fredette levels.

Here’s another hot take! I was reminded I saw Xav Lee live this season when Rutgers played Princeton. I honestly couldn’t remember how well any Princeton players did because everyone wanted to see Harper and Bailey. So I’m going to say he’ll fall somewhere between Tristan Smith and Mark Jackson.

Either way I promise I’ll assume the best if we sign either of them and if we don’t, I’ll say they probably couldn’t hack it in the Big East.

Regarding 2, I also believe like I. The coaching carousel that there will be late changes, additions, and subtractions. I doubt anyone is so ridged if their A plan doesn’t work that their only fall back on this B plan.

That’s what makes the off-season so fun. 🤩

If no Lee, I hope we pursue Wagner. Huff is just so small and has never averaged more than 2.6 assists per game. Excellent from three though.

I’m not sure if this has been posted yet or not. Kid was 48% from 3 taking about 3/game. not bad IMO

Been thinking about this guy since he entered. Doesnt seem like a target though, and even with good size and steal/block numbers, Washington fans say he was a poor defender.

How are PG's not banging down our door. By all means I want Lee. He looks tremendous, but I hope others aren't being 'turned away'. (not panicking just surprised PG's have been few and far between)

I’ve had the same thought lately.

Yeah our roster right now is better than Florida and it’s only going to improve from here. If you are a true PG, why wouldn’t you want to join a team with so many weapons?!
