Not many guys seem worked up, lot of guards out there who can score & solid PG prospectsI wouldn’t get too worked up about Bensley Joseph to PC. Rick wasn’t impressed with his workout and is holding out for bigger fish.
Let’s not forget about Clayton and Richmond. More fire than smoke there. What could be better! Not many guys seem worked up, lot of guards out there who can score & solid PG prospects
May be half right I senseLet’s not forget about Clayton and Richmond. More fire than smoke there. What could be better!
Mug, didn’t you think for most part this year Kadary played a “point forward” type role?If we land Kadary I'm working on the assumption that he is going to be given full PG duties for 30-35 mins per game. With Sim able to pick up the duties the rest of the time I think the ideal portal guard would be another combo thats more of a 2 than a PG, preferably one that can really shoot it.
Trey TownsendLatest Comments from Zach a few minutes ago:
St. John's and Rick Pitino had a zoom call today with North Texas wing Aaron Scott. Strong defender and capable 3-point shooter.
Other major targets of note: Kerr Kriisa of West Virginia, Cliff Omoruyi of Rutgers, Amari Williams of Drexel and Christ Essandoko of St. Joes. Expecting several visits once dead period ends next Thursday. Oakland star forward Taylor Townsend is another name I've heard linked to SJU.
Not sure I've said that myself but that characterization definitely fits him. I guess my point is that Kadary would be far and away the main playmaker on the team and imo the roster would be better served with scorers around him rather than more guys of the pure PG type.Mug, didn’t you think for most part this year Kadary played a “point forward” type role?
I just can't fathom Pitino and Kriisa workingLatest Comments from Zach a few minutes ago:

And less so on Kadary Richmond who has been tossed around...makes no sense to me fit wise.I just can't fathom Pitino and Kriisa working
Why? Seems to a good shooter.I just can't fathom Pitino and Kriisa working
Why? Seems to a good shooter.
He can shoot but his shot selection and decision making with the ball is completely mind boggling at times. He also can't play defense at all. I've watched him a bunch at Arizona and West Virginia and I've consistently left with the thought that he's not a guy I'd want anywhere near my teamWhy? Seems to a good shooter.
It's definitely a weird fit given the rest of the roster but I have an easier time seeing that one working just because of he plays hard on both ends and brings the toughness that we sorely lacked this season. And less so on Kadary Richmond who has been tossed around...makes no sense to me fit wise.
There is some potential for Curbelo 2.0 with him
I agree with everything you've posted on this thread. I have tremendous respect for Richmond as a player - he's enormously productive in multiple facets. But I don't see him playing at the pace Pitino wants to play; I wonder about the culture fit; and if you're going to play him on the floor with Luis and a big, there's no room left in the lane. It's definitely a weird fit given the rest of the roster but I have an easier time seeing that one working just because of he plays hard on both ends and brings the toughness that we sorely lacked this season.
Do agree though that a Kadary, Luis, and a Cliff/Amari/Essandoko trio would make for quite the clogged lanes

Yes you can play him at point forward as Paultz suggests and put Wilcher and a sharpshooter in the backcourt and that might work - but it doesn't really provide as much long-range shooting as you'd think Pitino would want unless Richmond and/or Luis improve their perimeter game substantially. Which is possible, but not certain. Even if you say "well Richmond is the point forward so we don't need Wilcher on the floor at the same time, we could put 2 shooters on the floor and rotate him in" that doesn't make much of a difference - especially since Wilcher may well be one of your shooters.
If you were swapping in Richmond for Luis, that is an entirely different discussion. You lose athleticism but gain a LOT of productivity. However that does not seem to be the move.
Just weird all around.
Also want no part of Krissa, 100% in agreement on that one.
Suspect there is some work in progress that we have yet to see.
Myself, looking at Richmond from a little different angle, we basically gutted a whole team over “culture” issues yet are interested in recruiting a player who essentially “quit“ on his team for a while mid-season over NIL $? Seems a bit hypocritical.I agree with everything you've posted on this thread. I have tremendous respect for Richmond as a player - he's enormously productive in multiple facets.
