SJU Offseason Thread (portal and recruiting discussions)

LuHi connected guy told me that he heard there's a guard on campus today.

Didn't give a name and I don't know if it's a pure PG or combo, but the person is a reliable source.

Hopefully a name leaks soon.
Its the pg from Drexel there today--that was previously announced.

On Darling, I never thought I would see the day when a player who went to my High School in Spokane, WA would potentially be a Johnnie. He was really good in HS but in a pretty low talent league. He didn't do much at WSU, but was really good in the Big Sky this last year. As much as I would like to see it, not sure if he is ready for the Big East.

Whoever we bring in has to buy in up front to being 8th or 9th man and getting about 15 mpg on a championship contender. Might not be that hard a sell to any of the candidates mentioned.

No clue, but a successful jump to High Major hoops conferences has been a 'thing' of sorts in recent years. He seems a very solid shooter and despite taking 21% of Idahao State's FGAs with 16% of total team minutes, he had 5.7 assists and a 2.2 TOV.

Wonder how the Big Sky conference comps to the MAAC?
For some reasin, i'm likening Darling to Walter Clayton Jr....both POY in their conferences as sophomores.

Can we get then results of RP's lateral quickness testing at his workout before we decide?

WSU, I feel never knows what to do with talent. They had Malachi Flynn who took off at San Diego State. Darling could be solid also the kid from FAU/EK would be a solid guard as well.

"So Dylan...would you rather be the man on a team playing Portland State in the Big Sky tournament at (checks notes) the Idaho Central Arena next March, or would you rather be a key contributor on a top 5 team in the country, play in front of 19,000 screaming fans in the worlds most famous arena, and compete for a natty?"

Agree, that shouldn't be too tough a sell.
