Sir Dom to Cavs

in looking at the box looks like he fouled out in 16 mins. prob pressing to show his D, 4 tos also, all correctable

He looked a little hyper last night trying to impress. He'll do fine after a few games.

Honestly he was not good at all last night. Watched the whole game and he exhibited poor ball handling and on D he was not playing good position defense he was letting his man get past him and then was jumping in the air taking wild arm swinging swipes at the ball ala Mark Jackson. May have fallen in love with the blocked shot at the collegiate level but he will have to play much better position D at the NBA level. Just hope he picks up his game so he makes the team.

I didn't watch but all the reactions I'm seeing online aren't saying this. And these aren't St. John's fans.

Was Jk about him owning LBJ but playing with james is no picnic.

I don't think Dom will have a problem with him though. Jordan was demonstrative with his teammates too, the only difference is one is a winner and the other is 2 for 6 in the finals.

I think LeBron will love him. He seems more harsh toward fellow superstars than he is to a balls-out supporting guy, so Dom will be fine there.

Now they just need a mentally strong big man who won't be driven out of town by LeBron after only one season.

Whatever happens Sir Dom, all the best! It seems just yesterday you were a brand new recruit! And we SJU fans have been better ever since!!!
Let's go Cavs!!!

His flair for the spectacular block or steal hides his on-ball defensive deficiencies. He definitely has the physical ability to be a lock-down defender in all facets, though. He really need to pick up a consistent corner three-point shot so he can be a three and d guy like a Bruce Bowen. His handle will never be where it has to be. He's a 2-3 dribble guy.

If he can get that corner J down, he can have a long career and make a lot of money.

Bama is right. Sir Dom has been not very good so far. But he's made plays that make front office guys remember you. He will make the team not because he's playing well, but because he's shown that he can provide what the cavs need which is a reserve who can give a few minutes of high energy defense a night.

Are you guys watching a stream or the box score? I was considering getting the summer league pass for $5. Are any of the games on TV?

NBA Network. And for imformation purposes I thought Dom could easily have been player of the year in BE last season and coming into SJU I said he reminded me of Michael Jordan so my evaluation was my honest opinion. As for the tweet you sighted maybe it was from the Cavs who were just staying positive on their own rookie player.

Fair enough just haven't seen negative Twitter reactions yet like I did for Jakarr last summer. But again I haven't seen footage just read reactions and box scores.

I've seen Dom on NBA Net. I saw a high energy player, but was frequently out of position on D. Attribute that to limited practice time with team. Dom will be fine when he settles down and plays his game.

A kid with his physical tools can get really good on defense going up against Lebron and Kyrie every day in practice. Talk about a steep learning curve.

Marillac and others, is learning to be a bank shooter ala Sam Jones something that might work for Dom? I go back to Barry Kramer at NYU who used glass to compensate for problems with ball control, I think because he had relatively small hands for someone his size.

Good to see his smile. Continued good luck.

At his his size and with his below average handle, I don't think he'll be getting many looks in the range where bank shots can be effective. I think Bruce Bowen is the type of game he should aim for...dominant defense, fast break dunks, and corner treys. Hopefully his D and physical potential can keep him around a few years while he gets his outside shot to where it needs to be.

That's exactly who he mentions in the interview. It's not that far fetched to think he could develop into that either.
