Shamorie Ponds

When I see situations like this it makes me wonder if the decision to leave was in his best interest. Obviously all hindsight, but would love an interview of Ponds talking about his decision process.

During initial pre-draft workouts and camps, I believe his conditioning was considered fair to average. Hope he ramped it up by now.

I don't think a fourth year would have made any difference for Shamorie's NBA chances. He is a very good player but at his size doesn't have the game to play in the NBA. I don't think its for a lack of trying. Not everyone can make it.

I would have loved to see if he stayed and bought into Anderson’s conditioning demands.

This past season, Shamorie played in the G-League with the Delaware Blue Coats which is the Philadelphia 76ers' affiliate. His teammates Paul Reed and Myles Powell were recently added to the Sixers' summer league roster, whereas Ponds was not.

Powell shot over 40% from three and averaged 22 pts per game. Shamorie shot 30.9% from three and average 13.5 pts per game in relatively the same amount of minutes.

I wished for Ponds to make it to the NBA, but at this point I think it is advisable for him to head overseas and make some good money while he can. Considering he is 24 and not sniffing the summer league, it's time to make a business decision.

If I’m not mistaken, Shamorie posted an IG picture recently showing him in a boot. Guessing that is the reason for no summer league invite.

The G-League stat difference between Shamorie & Myles Powell might also have something to do with it
