SHAMORI PONDS DRAFT PROJECTION & SIMON ???

Doubt he made that comment as a regret for leaving one year early. Just three words posted to compliment a pretty cool video clip.

He always post that he misses college. He also always post he misses high school. Nothing more nothing less.

I miss college as well.... Shamorie's three years went so fast.

I am sure he misses college just like the rest of us.

But, it must be a little different when you go from being "the man" at Madison Square Garden to being unsure of your next opportunity to play in a meaningful basketball game. I certainly wouldn't know from experience, but I always think that must be a difficult adjustment for some of these players.

I actually learned that Justin Burrell is making a boatload of money playing abroad - enough to make guys like Simon and Ponds take notice that you don't have to play in the NBA to make a lot of money.

I believe Dwight Hardy has also done well.

You just learned that? Here's a list of STJ's guys plaing in pro leagues. Check out the list of guys active in 2018/19/20. And pretty much everyone who was a regular starter is playing on a team that is in the top division in the country they're living in. If these guys don't know by the time they reach HS that there is enough money to be made playing hoops internationally then they aren't paying attention. They may not make millions (though some do), but they also don't have to take real jobs. LOL

PS guys who make very good livings internationally include DJ, Dlo, PGIV, Justin, Evans, Marcus, even Lamont is still making money in Japan and Geno was signed by a Greek team this year. And the Euros are doing fine as well including Mussini, Amar and Freudenberg.

Not the point. ANYONE who plays D1 basketball can make a salary overseas. JB is making in the 500K range, which is a good salary for anywhere, not just to pay the bills as you see the world.

I have friends who played Euroball more than 50 years ago. One returned to a seven year NBA career, the other became a very successful coach. Both are African American and I would not discount the impact of being outside the bubble of American racism and the insights that follow.

A valid point but before this thread goes off course may I suggest that we don’t discuss racism and politics and remember that this thread is about Shamorie and his professional prospects.
Thank you.

Sources: Charlotte is signing Virginia Tech guard Ahmed Hill to a two-way contract. Elsewhere, Houston has converted training camp deals for rookie guards Shamorie Ponds and William McDowell-White into two-way deals.
@wojespn

NBA teams may have up to two players under NBA Two-Way Contracts who will spend the bulk of the season in the NBA G League and not more than 45 days with their NBA team. Two-Way players are paid a corresponding daily amount based on the number of days they play in each league.

Decent outcome for him, happy for Shamorie. Hope he stands out in the G League and gets his chance.
