Seton Hall (MSG), Sat., Mar. 1, 2:15p, CBS

Here I am, on the train into the city, proudly sporting my vintage white St. John’s Student Orientation T-shirt—because nothing says I was once a bright-eyed freshman with big dreams like a slightly faded, possibly ketchup-stained shirt from a mandatory campus event. But today, my friends, is not about nostalgia. Today is about business. And by business, I mean St. John’s absolutely obliterating Seton Hall by a crisp 35 points and locking up that much-needed NCAA Tournament bid.

Now, I know what you're thinking: "Whoa, 35 points? That seems aggressive." But let’s be real—this season has been a dream come true. Rick Pitino, the wizard himself, has built a squad that’s peaking at the perfect time. The newcomers have bought in, the ball movement is crisp, and Madison Square Garden is once again a house of horrors for visiting teams. Seton Hall? They’re just the next team to walk in with hope and walk out wondering what just happened.

I can already hear Pirates fans grumbling about how they “play tough” and “grind it out.” That’s cute. Really, it is. But tonight, they’re stepping into Pitino’s Playground, and I fully expect St. John’s to treat them like a warm-up drill. The defense? Stifling. The offense? Ruthless. The result? A game so lopsided that by the second half, I might just start scrolling through my phone looking for Sweet 16 hotel reservations.

So here’s the plan: Arrive at the Garden, scream myself hoarse, and witness a dominant Red Storm performance that leaves no doubt—St. John's is back. The Big East better take notice, because this team is dancing, and Seton Hall? They’re just another step on the way to the ballroom.

Red Storm by 35.
Book it.

Unfortunately going to work so expect me in this thread but already a heavy Johnnie presence on the train out of Farmingdale. So nice out, hard to believe it’ll be 17 degrees tonight.

Anywhoo, let’s effin goooo

Of course attendance matters. If the casual fan attends we sell out. Look at all these years. When mullin buzz was here we drew well. Now there is great buzz with a great team and attendance has been awesome.

This years attendance resurgence is the most significant news of the season. Obviously it happens because of winning. But I think many of us had doubts the program could be this relevant again. Happy to be proven wrong.

And it’s also key to show the next head coach what potential the program still has.

Usually a beer or wine drinker but went out today and bought a bottle of Woodford Reserve Bourbon which I normally only do for the Derby and Christmas holidays. If Johnnies clinch today I will have a glass to celebrate before going out to dinner with the wife!
