Seton Hall Game

Early betting line is a pk. I'm surprised, thought we'd at least be a 3 pt fave with Whithead out but that arena hasn't been kind to us

NJ Transit from NYP is less than 15 min ride. About 2 block (5 min) walk from Newark Penn.

I'll be there with a bunch of SJU fans! Let's do it, boys!!

All you city guys, its NEWARK PENN STATION you want to go to, you will also see a lot of trains that go to Newark Broad that's not the one you want.

Also, there will be police to direct you on the two block walk to the Rock. It's a nice little arena, if you have the feeling Dinosaur BBQ is also nearby for a nice after victory beer and ribs.

I'm working all night tonight and tomorrow night too.. Will be sleeping but might need to catch some of the game regardless.

As far as Seton Hall goes, their three main stat sheet guys who are making any hay in the Big East statistically are Gibbs, Delgado and Whitehead, and Whitehead is out. Mobley isn't bad either some games and disappears in others. As some had mentioned Delgado, sure he can hit the boards and is number 2 in the conference in rebounds to this point. The problem is he will be flanked by #3 in the conference Obekpa, #4 Sir'Dom, #10 D'Lo and SJU which is the best defensive rebounding team in the conference. We have done a tremendous job improving on the glass,me specially Obekpa and Dom.

Gibbs is fantastic, but he will have an issue without Whitehead who has been the beneficiary of most of Gibbs' assists. Besides Gibbs, the Hall is last in the conference in A/TO ratio which is tough against a team that steals it as well as we do.

seton Hall has count them ONE player entering the game tomorrow averaging double digits in scoring in Sterling Gibbs. Keep sterling from killing us and check Delgado and we win handily. In addition, their three pont shooting percentages are heavily buoyed by Sterling Gibbs 50+% number. Aside from him, Sina and mobley shooting relatively well, but Sina might have his hands full finding shots against our big athletic guards alain Cooney.

A few other things the Seton Hall fans don't know:
- Joey Delarosa will be more irritating than they realize on post defense. He will buy Obekpa time, fouls and plays some gritty post defense. He's big and can potentially annoy them inside.
-our depth isn't as terrible as it seems on paper. We don't tire readily and stil have a few guys like Balamou, HDR, jones etc that can give us minutes.
- they think throwing a zone at us will make us chuck up threes all day, but it hasn't this year at all. Hasn't even phased us because we are passing a ton better and penetrating a ton better. Even Cuse's Zone at the dome didn't bother us.
- they think they will win with three point shooting, and they may be right, but we don't let opponents shoot too well from out there. Even teams that shoot very well out there. We have been running our zones very well this season.

We beat them at home by 1 last year, first time since 1998.

Of course not all those losses were at the Pru but it just shows how tough they play us at home (14-2 since '98).

In other news, LBS lost to # 5 Louisville by 15.

I work two blocks from the Prudential Center in downtown Newark. It's an 18 minute ride from New York Penn Station to Newark Penn Station and it's $10 round trip on New Jersey transit. You can also take the PATH Train but NJT is faster. You can walk inside through The Gateway and you will come out one block from the Prudential Center. Dinosaur BBQ is excellent, Bello's is very good and Ferry St. has some very good places to go after the game, Brasilia is good and Adega is also good, Hot bar maids in Adega. There's also Brick City Bar and Grill right across the street from the arena. There's a place called the Monk Room which two blocks from the arena across the street from the federal court house and they have a happy hour and great brick oven pizza. I will be there, let's go Redstorm!!!

Their preview has us winning.

Too bad these games are not won on message boards. :cheer:

Aside from the writer having RJ23 starting over Branch, a pretty good review of our team.

Wow, I see Seton75 posting there. He used to post here a long time ago.

it will be nice to hear Gary Cohen calling the game for a change. That is if I can find it. 970AM stinks and is preempted half the time and 570AM may be worse. I think the Hall is on 710 or 880

Jim Burr, who just turned 80, doing game. Practicing his charge calls in lobby. :)
