Season Tickets

Monetary considerations and incredibly hard work to develop ample resources to compete are requisites with limited alternatives.

I respect some fan angst re long term loyalty and personal loss/adjustments, but a very fair and fan sensitive administration has just made a difficult decision. Criticize the execution and communication perhaps, but the ability to sustain a high quality program was front and center in the University’s decision making.
Fine, SJU needs more $$$$ to compete in this new world. We get it.

But enough with the Pablum about a "very fair and fan sensitive administration." When you allow people to increase their number of seats from 2-6, you are intentionally screwing loyal, long-time ticket holders- like the guy on this thread who got moved 8 rows back. There's no way to put lipstick on that pig, try as you might.

Wealthy donors selected on Friday in Priority point order. For the most part that group had 2 million or more priority points plus were prior season holders. So you are wrong on that point.

What i believed would have been fairer was that your priority points get divided by your the # of tickets you are buying to determine order of selection.
Excellent point regarding suggestion of dividing priority points by # of tickets.

I have never been accused of being a SJU AD apologist. Having a different read/opinion on this is all part of candid dialogue imo. Have a good weekend, time for me to apply mascara to my pet pig “Eddie”. 😇

While I agree this process hasn't been smooth, wishing the school's basketball program to suck and the fanbase to suffer once Coach Pitino leaves is really silly.
Would never wish anything but good results for the basketball program and the school in general. I am an alum and have been a season ticket holder since 1971. Please do not make false accusations. If you can't see something wrong with the process used for ticket allotment this season that is your problem. I wonder if you received special treatment regarding ticket allotment this season.

None of us know what anyone is doing but for out of town fans who keep reminding STHs how much extra money is needed - I’m assuming all of you are sending checks in on a regular basis too. It’s not like the product is not more enjoyable on television now.

Otherwise those comments are extremely hollow.
Here’s the questions :
1. Would you rather put up some extra money to have a great team that you can watch in person with your friends and family?
2: Would you rather have great seats at CA to watch our team lose or have good seats at MSG to watch our team win?
Answer:
We now have a WINNER!!! I don’t want to go back. I prefer CRP to CRAP.

Also, I DO think it’s an either/or

No one was guaranteed to be able to retain their previous seats. This was basically a start over exercise based on priority points. So you were able to purchase any amount of tickets up to six that you wanted. Personally, wether I am buying two or more, I’d want them together.

While this did affect people (presumably including me) due to a decrease in inventory as others added to their season ticket plans (while others who had season tickets in different locations where now able to get them together and yes I know someone who did just that) and while I understood the reasoning even though I didn’t care for it (I loved my MSG seats), I do think the process was fair even if I didn’t get exactly what I wanted.

You misread my post. I never said more money isn’t needed. I said the people who do not even buy tickets and perhaps do not donate should stop chiding those of us who are carrying them. It’s fun to watch a better team on TV too.

Last year a lot of these folks were balking about spending $10 to get Peacock. Do they not want SJU to win? The TV money flows to the schools.

If all the non STHs start giving generously imagine how much money that would generate!

Let’s go out of town guys - it’s your turn. Or stop telling us how we need to suck it up. I think that is fair.

Why doesn't everyone start looking at what we have now. You have a national championship contending team and are worried how it's going to look post pitino. Supporting St. John's is a team effort, from the people in the offices to the fans. Focus on the present or you're going to miss out on some incredible experiences.

I think if it weren't for the "you can get 6 seats" rule, then choice 1 (above) would win by a landslide. Unfortunately the 6 seats limit has rightfully cast negative feelings and "suspicion" amongst many STH. Hopefully, Dave can get Ed to interview on a podcast where this can be discussed and Ed can provide the rationale (assuming there is one) for this.

On the contrary. I completely agree with your post. We would all choose to have an exciting, fun and well coached winner. We as fans are part of The Family too. Much respect.
And as Bart Scott said: Can’t wait.

It's a lot easier to sell more of your product to people who already use it and like it then to develop new customers.
