Amenities aside, I do think that a packed CA (which is was for the Big East games) gives us a nice home court advantage. I was at the Marquette and Nebraska games and it was a great atmosphere, even if the seats weren't the most comfortable.

Does anyone see this occurring in the next five years?
No. A higher up person personally told me last year that the grand plan was to build a new arena where the current parking lot is, and then completely denied ever having said that. I think the athletic department got a sharp rebuke from the farm economics guy on the ROI of a brand new arena.

The only renovation that could possibly make any sense is the expansion behind the baskets that could make this an 8-9000 seat arena with seat backs for all except maybe the least expensive seats. The cost of that renovation/addition alone would not yield a great ROI since at no time during Lavin's two NCAA seasons did we come close to filling CA on a consistent basis.

I can't see them adding more seatbacks to the opposite court and decreasing capacity by another 500-750 simply to make fans more comfortable.

Finally if any renovation were to occur as a result of success, look for the school to finance it in part by higher ticket prices.

Bottom line answer to your question: No. Especially with a renovated Coliseum fairly close and a new arena at Belmont maybe 7-8 minutes away. I'd be against either for a home court, but the economics just don't justify it. Our athletic department giving would have to finance nearly all of it and I don't see our alums coughing up 30 million, or a single donor $22 million for naming rights as a recent Villanova alum did.
I agree 100%!
Belmont is 4.8 miles away. I suspect a number of games will be scheduled there and students could easily be bused there in 15 minutes. The Garden will always be good for 4 or 5 games. Make Carnesecca as comfortable as possible for lesser games with students given priority seating. Once we are successful the fans will go wherever the games are played. But first we have to "make St. John's great again".;)
I was at that Nebraska game behind the basket and I was stomping my feet screaming "DEFENSE" so hard standing the entire game my foot was actually swollen for the 45 minute drive home...will never forget that. That was so much fun because we really thought it was a sign that we'd be in the tournament at the time after our first real test! Oh well.

This is true. Especially because we see plenty of fans of the opposing teams show up to the Garden. On campus, you don't get that so it's a true home court feel.
