I have 2 Storm Saver tickets which increased from $415 to $540 per person. Chairback package actually decreased in cost from $775 to $750 as an incentive I assume. Guess I will suck it up, but a 30% increase seems a bit high for a “rebuild” program. :) Hopefully the results will be there.

I’m probably going to have a couple new additions to 114 this year. I’m telling them if we are going to break out it’s going to be this year and worse case scenario they will drink Bronx pale ales with 114

I think my “premium seats” went down from $690 to $660.

Same here, my Stormsaver package for 2 seats went from $846 last year to $1,095 this upcoming season...a 29% increase.
Gotta pay for the new court!
So it's not being paid for by a famous alum with close ties to the team???
Gotta pay for the new court!
damn I was at least hoping it was going to Mike Rice salary

Perhaps more likely :)

I’ve asked to buy into the chairback session for 4 years. Never any available. So they say

Almost for certain if there any they will be in the corners

Seatbacks on more chairs are being discussed, however not for all seats. Worst part is the bunch of fans who reserve those nice seatback chairs and never end up going to games. There are always tons of empty ones and it looks terrible on TV. That's why I've proposed different ways i.e. first come first serve for single game tickets, many more seat upgrades, and allowing fans to move down to fill in by halftime.

The problem with socialism is that it doesn't beget much charitable giving. :)

I sit facing those seatback chairs. It bugs me too to see so many unoccupied especially for lesser games and early start times, but also know they are occupied by our biggest donors, who presumably have jobs and other obligations that make attendance in queens difficult.

I might move. I check every season like my good friend Section 3. Then again, i sit with an absolutely great bunch from Belle Harbor who are really nice.

Actually, just have gotten used to bleachers. I figure if i complain about being too old to sit in them, I'm probably just too old.

Seat back chairs reduce capacity. Also, ultimately you really want students close to the floor where their cheering ignites crowds and influences outcomes.

I'm 29 now and I've sat in those bleacher seats since I was about 23 or 24. They hurt my back then and they hurt my back now and I don't have a history of back problems or anything. Is it very painful to sit there? No...but it's very uncomfortable. I'm 5'10 and sitting there makes me feel like I'm 6'5 with the leg room lol. I know we have to pack more seats in since it's an arena, but IMO there's really not an excuse for the lack of fan experience. It's not even neutral IMO if I go to a game I know I'm going to be sore that night and the next day. Pretty bad business model if you want to draw fans but of course I'll go either way as a diehard. I'm talking more about casual fans. Ever been to SUNY Binghamton? Their arena is like an NBA arena compared to ours...it's modernized and has tons of comfy chairs with plenty of room and modern concessions. It's also on campus...and it's a mid major. I'm sure they got help from the state being a public school, but if SJU announced a fundraiser for the specific purpose of modernizing everything and improving fan experience, I'm sure many would donate. Packing CA is important and it gives us the chance to affect opponents more with home court advantage, however if we want to be a big time program we need more games at MSG. And I don't mean against Iona.

Does SUNY Binghamton play most of their home games at an NBA arena? The ROI on a renovation of Alumni Hall is probably terrible. As long as we play at MSG they won't do a major overhaul of the on campus arena.

Well the MSG number seems to be shrinking every year.

If they renovate CA they should use the Nassau Coliseum as an option. There are not many events going on there and i am sure they could get a good price. If they wait a few years they could use the new Islanders arena at Belmont.

The arena needs to be upgraded- Hofstra has a great arena should look at something like that.

The renovation of CA is a big part of the program being recognized as a serious competitor. Four or five games a season at MSG is not enough. CA needs a complete overhaul. Welcome to the 21 century, consider the fan's comfort.

Due to having a crappy product that couldn't sell out MSG. Get a good product on the court and I would expect the number of MSG games to go back up.

On the subject of arenas, there is a really good biography about Pete Maravich. There are a number of them but I believe this one is entitled Pistol.

When he arrived at LSU, hardly anyone came to the games. The arena was decrepit, had multiple leaks in the ceiling, which damaged the floor, horrendous seating, and I believe smelled pretty bad.

Maravich, who as a high schooler would regularly play pickup against the varsity and was by far the best player on the court even then, soon began to fill LSU's arena ON THE FRESHMAN TEAM. His legend grew so quickly that fans would come to the freshman game, which often preceded the varsity game, and then leave before the varsity game.

Guaranteed if we become a ranked team, the place will fill up again, as will MSG. With or without seatbacks.
