You may be right about Goodman but Lavin can figure out ways to make a scholarship available when there isn't one to accommodate a very good player. See also UCONN and Andre Drummond.

Maybe CRGreen can reiterate examples from Lavin's tenure at UCLA.

I believe he was talking about transfer students walking on for the year they have to sit out.

As well as Roscoe Smith of Uconn. Not to mention they have maybe my favorite SG prospect in Katin Reinhardt. I really would have loved to land that kid. Maybe we should start a series with UNLV. I like where they are headed.

CR I dont know their existing roster, just pointing out that they did great on the recruiting trail in respect of their front line this year.
 
 This gives UNLV the best frontline in the country. They also have a top 100 RSCI senior and Kansas transfer, Quintrel Thomas, off the bench up front. This is bad news for Bennett. Goodman will be better. I know I will get heat for thistle but the kid is an animal.

Goodman not nearly as skilled as Bennett and is a little smaller. Goodman certainly has a motor, but I don't think he's as good as Bennett.  Goodman= Greedy Peterson

Agreed. We have our version. If we land wings, we are more in need of the types that have some real perimeter ability as well. Gotta be impressed with the job Rice has done at UNLV, not dissimilar to what Lavin is doing here at SJU.

I was the one who made the Greedy comparison! I think Goodman is one of if not the most undervalued recruits in this class. He is a top 30 player to me. I think Bennett is ranked too high. Bennett is in a tough spot if Goodman qualifies. Moser is not going anywhere in the lineup, Roscoe Smith is eligible next year with two more years of experience, and Goodman is the same size and position. No doubt Bennett fancies himself as a one and done, but that is not happening at 6'7 without a true position.

Goodman's motor and explosiveness are off the charts and he is a possessed rebounder. If a 50/50 ball goes up between Bennett and Goodman and Bennett will be on his arse.

Bennett is a much more smooth and skilled player inside and out. His big body and long arms remind me of Pitt's Dejuan Blair. And don't take him for a softee. He most certainly is not. I agree that Bennett is not a one year player because of his height, but really skilled out past 3. Savon has a great motor for sure, but lacks skill in a lot of areas. Im not sure Goodman is a top 30 type talent. Lots of guys hustling at the college level, who also have good hops. Not sure he has the skill set to beat guys consistently ones college defenses tighten up.
