LMFAO!
Yes he played like he was all alone out there and was apathetic, Next thing we will hear is he is in Philly visiting his mom and needed to miss practice. From conditioning to basic basketball sense we are not up to speed at SJ. BTW, is the conditioning coach still working on his house or working with ADR? I go with the house.

That kid has no desire to get himself shape.

The thing about these games is that looking great against B and C level competition means very little except to show some signs of improvement that must be validated against top-flight players and teams. However, to mail in a crappy performance in these games can be a harbinger of a long season ahead.

Yep. But the thing is, despite his weight, he played a lot throughout his grade school and high school years. So his weight didn't alarm him probably. But he's gonna ride the bench for the first time in his life, and I'm hoping that wakes him up. Or else, i doubt he's ever a major contributor.

I wonder if Lavin is telling Federico Mussini that Dellarosa is Italian. :)

Funny I thought this was a thread about Rysheed

Well if we are knocking on the posts in the thread whoever the original poster was needs to know this was an unessecary thread in the first place ;)

That's fine. You are entitled the your opinion. As am I. This kid has his eye on something other than SJU and he needs a wake up call because he better have a valid passport because the NBA is a pipe dream. I've never disliked an SJU player more. I question whether he's even a PG. He can pass sure but he has a high loose dribble and drives into traffic for no reason.

Hey want me to be blindly positive? He tried the Euro step 3 times and traveled twice. Least he can practice that overseas

It was just the first scrimmage and it was only November first, but that first half was awful. We don't have a chance if Sheed and D'Angelo aren't both stars. Rysheed should have eaten these kids alive. He needs to have a better feel for what he needs to do...he can't just think "drive no matter what here." That is high school sh*t. He needs to read his defender and adjust and counter when necessary. He also needs to be more of a PG. He missed some wide open looks....Balamou was signaling with two hands for an alley-oop and Jordan's head was down. Branch has much better vision IMO. I'll never understand the short leash Lavin gives Branch while letting Dom dribble the ball at his chin and make mistake after mistake.

Sheed's chances of getting drafted in 2015 are slim and none, and he simply does not have any margin of error. I never saw Semaj Christon play this poorly as a frosh let alone as a soph--and he was only a second rounder.

Wow, you must be on your meds. I can't quibble with anything you said, In fact I wholeheartedly agree with all of it! Hope this doesn't mean I need meds also.

I agree with your post for the most part - especially that Jordan and Harrison must perform at All-American honorable mention level or above, at the very least All Big East second team or above for this team to be an NCAA tourney team. I disagree that his chances of getting drafted are zero to none. He has the ability to slice up even the best defenses in the country, and actually had better stats last year in the big east season than pre-season. However, there are more talented guards than at any other position, and for Jordan to be considered 1st round material will have to bring it with regularity. He's capable of it for sure, but someone has got to light a fire under this kid. If he had 1/2 the fire in his belly that Harrison has, we would be planning his goodbye party already.

Sheed has a ton of talent and will be in the NBA if he plays his cards right. But there were games last year where he clearly took the me first approach. Case in point, the game at Villanova. Kid basically decided that he could beat them by himself (and really embarrassed himself in the process).

The coaches need to stress for him to play within himself. He has a dynamic playmaker next to him in Harrison and a pretty solid shooter on the court in PG IV. Make the others around you better. Whether he chooses to play that way is another story, but he's not going to make the pros playing sloppy and self-centered basketball.

Ugh

As much as I enjoy the effort, team attitude & ability to overcome adversity on Harrison's point, I find Jordan to be polar opposite. His lack of maturity, auditioning for NBA mentality, carelessness & lackadaisical play disappoints. Yes he has talent and has come from a challenging background, but take a page from Harrison's book. Grow up, play team ball & leave your NBA audition material in Philly. Maybe he can shed light on things when he has a meaningful interview with beat reporters. Oh, wait a minute....

He definitely dribbles the the ball too high; and unfortunately he just ran into traffic like a bull without any court awareness. That has to stop, immediately. On the other hand, I was happy he drained the two three's at the end of the game. His shooting should be good this year.

My point exactly.

But you didn't say it:)

Aside from Chris Obepka, I didn't see anyone who I thought played well for the Red Storm yesterday.
Part of the problem was the amazingly inadequate coaching strategy on both ends of the court. This poorly thought out game plan played right into the strengths of Humbolt State, who eventually were worn down by our superior depth and talent. This game should have been a walk in the park for a coach who knew what he was doing. As for Jordan, I feel that some of you are being somewhat overcritical. After all, we've only played one game. He did score in the vicinity of 20 points. That's hardly a disaster area. Part of the problem is that he isn't really a point guard. How many really neat passes have you seen him perform in his SJU career so far...you don't need more than one hand to count them. The position calls for a "creater", whose goals are to make the team go and put other people in position to score. The kid is a scorer, and sees himself as a scorer. In his heart he wants to outscore Harrison. That is not a point guard. Only the special players meet high standards when playing out of position.
