Rysheed Jordan

Disappointing. Hopefully whatever the violation is minor and Rysheed gets the message. Don't want to make too much of it (not knowing what he did/didn't do) but it is a missed opportunity for a young player to get better in a meaningful game.

Whata the .............., Another suspension this is starting to look like a Lavin problem . He has already hads more suspenions then Lou did in 23 years plus Lapchick last 10 years.

I'm really getting sick and tired of all the suspensions. What is it this time? Rysheed didn't shave? Or he logged into social media? Or he didn't follow one of Lavin's archaic Wooden rules that worked 20 years ago?

This is starting to get stupid.

Flame me if you want.

Agree, but btw the players are always on social media, just never post.

My guess would be it probably was something like missing a class or study session, and if that's the case it's better to lay the law down now in these early season games and set the tone of no nonsense when it comes to things like this, so that in conference games etc. the players will understand what is expected of them

I find it ridiculous posters are questioning the suspensions without knowing what happened. I coached at the juco level years ago and I can tell those of you that have never been around a college program that the sh@t coaches have to deal with on a daily basis is draining...just mind-boggling. Alex Evans used to have to run around like a babysitter.

You nip this stuff in the bud as early as possible before it becomes part of the culture.

Didn't Alex Evans chase around Abe Keita with cash?

I wish the thank you button allowed me to thank you twice.

Thank God someone on this board has some sense. None of us know exactly what happened so how can we complain about it. As for the poster who said it is a Lavin problem, you just don't know what you are talking about. Coach Lavin does not go out of his way looking to suspend players, but he expects them to maintain a certain standard. This is no different than in any other walk of life.
Last year he suspended D'Angelo and anyone who follows St. Johns can tell you that D'Angelo has returned with a new and improved attitude. His demeanor on the court has improved tremendously. While he is on the bench, he is cheering for his teammates. This evening he was in foul trouble but made two big 3 pointers to help us ice the game.
I just hope that whatever his transgression was, that Rysheed has learned his lesson and will come back and contribute to the team.

Lavin deserves praise for setting rules with clear consequences, then enforcing them when he must. He's proven to be a good disciplinarian. It is not easy to suspend good players. However, although the team gets weaker the game you suspend a player, the program gets stronger in the long run. And anyone who thinks him having suspensions makes him look bad just doesn't understand how things operate when you coach a team. Trust me, there are many coaches out there that deal with situations that should result in a suspension yet they don't have the courage to make right decision. I'm a coach myself and applaud Lavin for what he does when it comes to discipline.
