Roll Call For Charlotte

Stuck at Laguardia with my 2pm flight pushed to 4:50 because the flight is now leaving Charlotte. Hopefully, it's not pushed back any further. That being said, I'm now happy for the late 9:50-ish tip off. To quote the great philsopher Bart Scott, "Can't Wait!!!!"

Safe travels Red. Hope you get there on time for tipoff. Probably won't start till 10 PM or even a few minutes after.

If you guys are looking for a good BBQ spot there is a place called old hickory house on tryon out towards UNCC. It's not a nice looking part of town and an ugly building but the BBQ is top notch. Great pulled pork and Brunswick stew.

awesome.. thank you.. we are looking for a lunch place now

Can you recommend any bbq a little closer to the arena?

I don't know any others. I went to UNCC so it was our go to spot. It's only about 15-20 min drive from uptown.

We're at the Buffalo Wild Wings next to Nascar Hall of Fame having a few beers and watching the early games

good luck. We got out of laquardia before the snow

Hope you get down here in time. Too many duke fans walking around

I've run into St. JOhn's fans already. I've heard that SJU will be pretty well represented by fans.

I've run into San Diego State fans, I don't expect them to travel well for this

Now, when you say you've "run into" SDSU fans, do you mean literally, with your car? ;)

BTW Getting into laguardia all the tsa guys were yelling go st johns to us. On the plane to charlotte a couple of people from charlotte were saying to us they hope we win.

Got in the airport in charlotte and some of the workers were yelling go st johns to us and I was only wearing a st johns hat.

Was nice to hear buzz from people

Just ran into San Diego State, staying in the same hotel as us. They were in a ballroom reviewing game tape.

Michigan State is here as well

Shoulda pulled the plug....

So, when Obekpa got suspended I promptly got on my high horse and swore off traveling to support the dysfunctional program.

I am still annoyed......but, now, I wish I got out of my own way and went to Charlotte. Enjoy the ride fellas......bring back a win tonight.

Any redmen.comers in the pic?

It's kind of surprising to me to be positive after a loss. The SJU crowd was large, loud, and positive. I know we filled the Garden for Pitt 4 years ago, but this was different. The SJU fans who made the trip or live in Charlotte area simply tried to elevate the team from the opening tip at every possible moment that called for it.

It's literally been a long long time where there crowd was so involved vocally. At one point in the second half when the SDSU lead opened up and the sju crowd quieting, a college aged kid sitting one section over and decked out in St John's gear started shouting at the top of his lungs something to the effect of, "Come on people. We're ST . JOHN' S UNIIVERSITY" in a 15 second rant. It ignited the crowd and soon nearly the entire section was on its feet screaming nt at something great that had happened on the court, but to exhort and elevate our team.

Met and chatted twice with D'Angelos grandparents, who are really such a nice, warm, and special couple. There is no doubt that all of the things in Harrison we love as special were ingrained in him by them.

There were 1/2 a dozen at least former redmen players in the house. They were all there to root. Minlend, Werdann, Shelton Jones, Lamont Hamilton and a couple more. Nice job guys.

Met many fans at the reception, the game, and following at the bar Tilt. I''ll leave bunches of people out but Mjmaher as usual was a get ambassador of redmen, JSJ, TxRedman and MJDinkins (and their really nice well mannered sons), NYCredmen, and dozens more.

Everyone is down at the loss, but it's funny, there was something in the air even afterwards, among young and old fans that we ARE St. John's, and that is something really special.

Well said Beast. If I had to do it all over again, I would do it in a heartbeat. The University got it right on this one. The pre-game reception was great, all the former players (most sitting in the row directly behind me) and the energy of our section & fans in the building. It was intense. Yes we lost but the overall experience was great, just not the outcome of the game.

Many kudos to all of you who made the trip down and represented us well. The guys on the court made us proud; all of you in the stands made us proud. Well done!

Post game was great seeing you guys. Will put up a new thread later with a couple of pics.

I'll say this about our crowd, A lot of the redmen.com were in sec 115 and 116 and they were AWESOME as a crowd. They represented us GREAT !!!

We were in upper deck and they were real loud down there

Game ending sucked but I will say that probably my proudest moment as a fan in the last 4 years ( knowing that Beast had texted me saying he was sitting with Dlo's grandparents ) was when our fans in 115 and 116 started and led the chant " Thank you DLO " when he fouled out and when Lavin pulled the other seniors " they led the chant " thank you seniors "

On the internet board we can all get crazy at times but when it is time to step up and represent like last night our fans ( many who are on these boards ) were absolutely all class when our kids needed it the most
