Any redmen.comers in the pic?
fan since '65, 4th row far left.
It's kind of surprising to me to be positive after a loss. The SJU crowd was large, loud, and positive. I know we filled the Garden for Pitt 4 years ago, but this was different. The SJU fans who made the trip or live in Charlotte area simply tried to elevate the team from the opening tip at every possible moment that called for it.
It's literally been a long long time where there crowd was so involved vocally. At one point in the second half when the SDSU lead opened up and the sju crowd quieting, a college aged kid sitting one section over and decked out in St John's gear started shouting at the top of his lungs something to the effect of, "Come on people. We're ST . JOHN' S UNIIVERSITY" in a 15 second rant. It ignited the crowd and soon nearly the entire section was on its feet screaming nt at something great that had happened on the court, but to exhort and elevate our team.
Met and chatted twice with D'Angelos grandparents, who are really such a nice, warm, and special couple. There is no doubt that all of the things in Harrison we love as special were ingrained in him by them.
There were 1/2 a dozen at least former redmen players in the house. They were all there to root. Minlend, Werdann, Shelton Jones, Lamont Hamilton and a couple more. Nice job guys.
Met many fans at the reception, the game, and following at the bar Tilt. I''ll leave bunches of people out but Mjmaher as usual was a get ambassador of redmen, JSJ, TxRedman and MJDinkins (and their really nice well mannered sons), NYCredmen, and dozens more.
Everyone is down at the loss, but it's funny, there was something in the air even afterwards, among young and old fans that we ARE St. John's, and that is something really special.
