Tragic, many lives ended way too soon.

I read with interest the NYP all of this family man stuff, and found it a little out of balance with only the NYT mentioning his "complicated" legacy. Apparently besides the rape claims and settlement and admission of cheating on his wife with a very young woman--PS his wife got a gigantic ring out of it-- he could be a real jerk with reporters, and sometimes the public. Rude and at times demeaning with even the Lakers' beat reporters. And with teammates at times.

Anyway, as with most people, there were many sides to him. As for BB, he wasn't Michael Jordan, but damn close. That competitive fire burned fiercely like MJ's And even our own Chris Mullin's.
Lol no one will ever be mj, only way to be exactly like mj?
Win 3 championships, quit for 2.years, come back and win 3.more consecutively.

He won 6 straight.
No superstar would quit for.even one year now, one year for superstar is close to 50mill.

I thought it would have been cool for lebron to play tight end for the browns for a year or 2. He could have pulled it off. That would have been fun but he wants the stats and the "best ever' moniker so it was not to be.
There was an eyewitness on the bike trail right where it happened. He said he heard the chopper but couldnt see it in the fog. It was loud and he felt like it was really close. All of the sudden, it appeared out of the fog and slammed right into the mountain combusting into a fireball.

It sounds like the pilot had no clue a mountain was right in front of him and just didnt see it until the last second. Maybe he never even saw it.

The worst thing is this could have easily been avoided. So sad.
I thought the pilot became disoriented also and slammed into the mountain but the timeline below from the post that the final pings on FlightRadar24.com shows the helicopter dropping altitude and gain speed and, in the span of 14 seconds went from traveling 126 mph at 2,125 feet to 176 mph at 1700 feet before it dropped from radar. This was at a time the pilot was supposed to be climbing.

Lol @ best ever.
He had to go to miami and join wade and bosh to win championships, then came back to Cleveland and won a championship with love.

GiGi was going to be a part of our conference one day... rip
Not so sure about that, kobe took her to alot of Oregon games.
Pregame oregon /.Oregon st. Made of.circle and had a moment of silence for him.
One player from Oregon was really emotional over kobe's death, and said everything she does this year is for him.
It was common knowledge GiGi wanted to go to UConn.

Which is why UConn for their game yesterday made her a jersey and put it on a seat on their bench

Please don’t turn this thread into LeBron bashing. Kobe and LeBron are my two biggest basketball heroes of my lifetime. Just lost one, don’t need to see a Hater talking shit about the other

Relax, was just responding to a poster.
No hard feelings

100% Gigi was going to go to UConn. She said herself it was always her dream. Actually used that word. Also, nothing was ever proven except that Kobe had an affair. That's it. I don't agree with it at all but how many insanely rich celebrities have affairs? How many get divorced a million times? An affair is totally different than the allegations made. You really think she wasn't in it for a payday? People know if they just make allegations this day in age especially towards an insanely rich celebrity they will at least be able to settle for a huge amount to them and a tiny amount to the celebrity. Maybe he made advances, but didn't she show up at his room? It takes two to tango people. As I've said before when I was in college I was at a bar with a few buddies and an intoxicated girl came over (stranger) and just started kissing and licking my face. Is that sexual assault? I didn't consent. This stuff just seems very very one-sided where men should be presumed guilty and women should be presumed innocent. Look at Aziz Ansiri who went on a date then took a woman back to his penthouse. They hooked up and the next day she said it was weird...so it must be sexual assault. The pendulum has swung too far IMO.

Was she hot? if so, it was awesome, not sexual assault. If she was a fatty, yes, you were assaulted.

Did you go home with this girl that night? Can we get more details here?

My scale may differ from others but I'd say a 6.7 on the Zaun scale. So it was moderate assault IMO.

And how do you “know” she was in it for the payday? Nothing that I’ve read about this situation leads me to believe it that this was some sort it set-up on her part. But there are only 2 people who actually know what happened, and one of them is now gone. So maybe we ought to leave it alone. Certainly we shouldn’t be blaming the accuser.

I don't and you're right they're the only 2 who really know what happened. But I'm just saying people tend to jump to assume the accusation is 100% true these days and totally ignore other possibilities like seeking a payday which is absolutely a possibility. The only evidence I read about was that she was tested and they found another man's DNA from hours after the alleged assault. Nothing about Kobe. But Kobe said it was consensual and charges were dropped against him. Settling does not imply guilt. I don't think we should believe all women and I don't think we should believe all men. I think we should look at evidence and let that steer things. It's very curious that if someone made unwanted advances towards you, that you show up at their hotel room later. Back when I was single if a woman made unwanted advances towards me, the last thing I did was act in a way that conveyed possible interest. That's illogical. It's not blaming the accuser, it's asking questions and looking at evidence. If some other hotel guest heard her yelling for help and the words "no, stop" then that would change everything. I would think that would be a typical response in that situation if it happened as described. According to reports, he didn't go behind the desk while she was working and start groping her. Sounds like he made advances which was wrong but they could've been rejected. Instead, she ends up at his room later. You can't tell me that's logical with a straight face. But I'm just going off reports so who knows? Just a ridiculous thing for media to bring up right after a tragedy that has lots of questions and is far from a clear cut case. Sorry to kinda take this off topic though. Last I'll say...RIP Kobe.
