Unreal, RIP to a legend. Love him or hate him he is the face of a basketball generation.

My son just texted that his daughters were on board. What a horrible tragedy.

One of his daughters, his 13 year old, is confirmed dead. Also, a child and her parent, on Kobe's daughter's travel team, and the pilot.

His wife, and 3 other daughters, were not on the helicopter.

Now they’re saying just one daughter and Rick Fox also died. Horrible!! All these conflicting accounts, who knows. It’s all just horrible

It’s confirmed on the news that it was just the 13 year old, one of her team mates, her parent and Kobe plus the pilot on a way to a basketball event for the daughter

You get on board thinking you're going somewhere and you never arrive, instead you die in a crash.

You never know when it's your time.

Terrible, terrible news. No one worked harder at his craft than Kobe. Praying for his family.

This is truly sad and, of course, a shocker. I saw video of Kobe's daughter playing hoops, last summer, and she had some skills. 13 years old. Horrible.

I can't even imagine and at a loss for words about the situation. An extremely, tough day for the Bryant family and friends, as well to the family and friends of the other parent and child and pilot on board.

A truly gifted basketball player, who always played the game the way it was meant to be played. God bless and keep you Kobe.

RIP Kobe and GiGi Bryant. And to the others who perished in the crash. Thoughts and especially prayers for the families of those who died. So, so sad.

Devastating.

I know I am generally younger than a lot on here, and for me, Kobe was my MJ growing up.

I still remember being a kid and eating cereal watching sports-center before I went to school. One time I turned it on and they were saying Kobe dropped 81. I was in disbelief.

As a kid that’s what he had, a ton of great Kobe moments to talk about at school. And then when he retired my senior year of high school, I felt like my childhood was ending along with his career. It was a bittersweet goodbye, and even more so now.

It hurts to see this tragedy occur. A true legend that means so so much to basketball fans everywhere and especially my generation who grew up watching the Mamba.

RIP Legend.

Saw a Press Conference where the LA County Sheriff announced that there were nine people on board the helicopter based on the manifest, not five as previously reported. The remains have not been recovered yet as they await the coroner and they weren’t announcing the names who were onboard based on the manifest.

Tragedies that involve a famous person, especially one that most of us have watched over 2 decades, and was part of Team USA that won the gold in 2 Olympics, should remind us that we are never in control. Each day is a gift and a blessing. My heart goes out to Kobe's wife and daughters, and the families of the other passengers.
