There are schools where boosters pay the coaches salary! This would be amazing if boosters stepped up and did this, if you want to go on the cheap Rick Barnes would go for the same as Lavin

Someone explain to me why Barnes name keeps coming up. He's an awful coach. I'm a Texas fan.

22 ncaa bids , 6 sweet 16s, 3 elite 8s a final 4, lots of kids to the nba and Kevin Durant! Texas was not a basketball school before he arrived
This was the same argument for Lavin. We just fired Lavin because he isn't a good coach. Hiring Barnes is hiring another coach who can't coach. Trust me I know.

So what you are saying is louie C sucked as well! They have the same accomplishments with the exception that STJ was relevant when Louie took over and Texas was nothing. You need to recognize greatness. Texas was preseason top 10 and danced. Rick Barnes has a tourney winning record at texas and you say he sucked. They play a very tough Occ schedule
Did you perhaps see the talent Texas had this year. Did you see what he did with it?

Since you are such a fan of Texas tell us about their injuries! Thank God you have no say in the search. You want to judge a coach by one season not including all the injuries they had, and say he sucked, when in fact you should say wow he is pre season top 10 because he can recruit. Tell KD he can't coach or recruit
What, taylor? You realize as soon as Isaiah came back they went on a massive losing streak right? And same thing with Holmes. I'm not judging him based on one season, I'm using this season as an example. Over the 6-7 years I've followed them, they haven't had an offense. Did you watch the butler game a few weeks back. That was awful offense, and it has been going on at Texas for years.
Never said he couldn't recruit, we all know he can. Just don't think they will hire him. They shouldn't hire him. Don't want to see bad offense like we've seen at SJU the last couple of years. Then again you supported an extension of Lavin I believe, so no wonder you are supporting an older version of him

Barnes is a legitimate name who has great résumé. Whether you think he is a good fit or not for us is another story. Whether you think he is past his prime is another story. But you cannot say Barnes is not a legitimate name to consider, especially if you are a Mullin or Hurley advocate.
Barnes has a better resume than Lavin. Again, not saying I want Barnes, but I'd take him over Masiello any day.

There have been rumblings for a few years about firing Barnes. Some say he is to Mr clean, and other boosters want a Texas guy. I think the negativity got to him more than anything else. I know the Baylor crap they are pulling with their boosters definitely upset him, and Texas boosters wanted to do more

Maybe so, but by all accounts lack of talent/recruiting was not the issue. I think they had as much talent as nearly anyone. Problem is they underachieved. Not sure I see the correlation btwn underachieving during the season and prioritizing family during the off season when the talent is consistently top notch.
