Obvious to all, you need to recruit AND foster goodwill among the HS/AAU folks. Obvious. But will we hire a coach who's on top of this game. How could SJU for a decade plus alienate so many local movers and shakers? What were our coaches thinking? Someone please explain.

I don't think Norm alienated them, I just don't think he was highly regarded and the local guys weren't sure how long he's be around. Lavin and Jarvis were a whole different story.
 
Rick Pitino always comments or apparently is asked something about St John's. I guess its his NY background. I mean at this point he is Kentucky (the State) blue blood all the way. What the heck would he know about St Johns in Queens?

Lack of funds to pay them off? Refusal to provide young boys to CTK coaches? Just guessing, could be a ton of reasons.

Yes, and he also convinced Seton Hall brass that Kevin Willard was the second coming of Dean Smith.
 
Meanwhile, this article has no insinuation of Pitino coming here. If anything, it highlights why Hurley is a better choice than Mullin.

This is the same guy who said to keep Norm Roberts when Louisville :lol: was in the Big East.

And as noted elsewhere, he strongly recommended Kevin Willard to Seton Hall. Great coach; equally great gasbag.

Because some people are flat out dumb on here[/size]. That is not even a pipe dream. I don't get why people think SJU has the appeal it once did. We're cooked. Not to mention the University's serious financial issues that are soon to come to light.
 
SJU Administration couldn't handle the way that Pitino would do things here. It would be first class with a lot of vision and communication !! Facilities just a bit different than Louisville's. Louisville also has a dynamic athletic director.
