Rick Pitino - Head Coach at St John’s University!!!

In college basketball, evil wins, way more often than not. In a way, I'm kind of glad that we're starting to play on that level.

In real life, it's a lousy asset, but in the college hoops world, it might be the only way.

I always liked Red Sea. Biblical.
I liked “ the Rose” because it’s the correct color and also it is the NYS flower - NYU used to be a big time sports school - went to the Final 4 circa 1960 and were/are the Violets!
A flower is a possibility since we are kicking around options! A thought.

They already did--Went to SJU for grad school BUT undergrad I went to one of the local rivals and still have the button we wore when playing SJU
"Flush The Johns" (with a 🚽).
Thanks for that, Brooklyn.
Figured that was an E-Z retort.
Which I'd why I'd rather it not become our 'official ' moniker, lol

Neither did Caitlin Clark when they beat South Carolina.

ANGEL REESE HIT CAITLIN CLARK WITH THE "YOU CAN'T SEE ME" 👀 https://t.co/Zj3mqIzkk9

If you actually watched the games, the arguments used to defend the player on the National Champion team Reese hold no water.

WHY?
*Reese accused Clark of disrespecting members of her team as well as South Carolina players at a previous game.
- There is nothing shown during the game that validates Reese's accusation.
If dropping a shit load of points on LSU is disrespectful, then the whooping LSU gave South Carolina Carolina during the season by piling on the points in a 24 point win must be beyond disrespectful.

*Her LSU teammate Alexis Morris criticized the Iowa defense, saying she found the way they guarded South Carolina "disrespectful" and vowing to "take it personally" going into the final.
- in the Final Four against South Carolina, Clark is defending Gamecocks guard Raven Johnson on the perimeter. Johnson is open for a 3-pointer – she was 14-for-58 from distance this season (24.1%) – and Clark dismisses her with a wave of the hand. Note, THIS is the purported disrespectful way she defended a player 15 feet away from Clark.
Since when does how a team or player defend another team justification for unsportsmanlike conduct?

The DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE TWO subosed slights?
* Clark doesn't pursue and taunt the opposing player of the losing team.
Reese does and whips out the race card as a defense.
America cheers Reese for her outspoken behavior.
Clark. who doesn't SPEAK to the opposing players, is the privileged National Player of the Year who gets the same heat.

If you don't see the difference in the above video then you enable bad post game sportsmanship in the men's game. It can't be OK with women but not OK with the men or vice-versa.

Next time a male player makes the TREY sign or raises his arms at the crowd while whooping the opposing team, let us know if we should apply equity standards.

This picture strictly shows readers what the John Cena "YOU CAN'T SEE" hand sign looks like.
Clark doesn't follow the other player around for ten seconds pointing to her RING FINGER.
BTW, the scornful look given by Alexis Morris after the game was just as disrespectful.
Copying a still picture by the mainstream media to justify the tacky LSU players actions isn't exactly fair journalism.
LOOK AT THE VIDEOS.
Better still, replay the games. Raven Johnson, Reese's friend, trash talks Clark every time she is close to her.
I personally thought Clark gave the ultimate "GTFOH" to her when she tempted her to shoot near the end of the game.

She doesn’t get a pass just because she didn’t follow the other player around. It was still showboating look at me. She got a taste of her own medicine, just worst.

Trash talk? Some of the all-time greats in the NBA were notorious trash talkers including Larry Bird and Michael Jordan. Just tying to get in an opponents head and take their soul. Me personally, not a fan of it but find it funny that people are now upset over something that goes on regularly.

I love trash talking in basketball.

Always been a part of the game, perhaps not so overt.

What I find disgraceful is grown men like Dave Portnoy and Keith Obermann publicly calling the LSU player "a piece of shit" and a "fucking idiot" respectfully.

But I use the term "grown" very loosely here.

A bunch of old white guys were 1,000x more angry about it than Clark was. That was the weirdest thing to me.

I have no problem with trash talk or doing the John Cena, but you run the risk of having to suck it up and eat crow if you don't win.

The Iowa player who looked like Triple H could have ended it by kicking Reese in the stomach and giving her the Pedigree though.

I feel like an old white guy because I had no idea what they were doing waving their hand over their face. I thought they were hot and tried to cool themselves down or something.

And now that I see this is in the Rick Pitino thread, I'll avoid the wrath of the moderators and say I bet Rick was a superb trash talker at UMass.

Sorry but then you clearly miss the difference.
It has nothing to do with plain Ole trash talking during a game. This was at the end of the game and during the lining up to shake hands.
In a "men's" what Reese did warrants a warning and if the stalking continues, grounds for a technical.
You guys are acting like college guys watching a cat fight and think it's part of the game.
It's not.
If you pursue a player with verbal or physical taunts, it is a technical.
Much different than flashing your hand in the "flavor of the week" gesture.
I don’t even appreciate our players use of the TREY SIGN when they were getting their asses kicked by Creighton and Xavier.
I'm done with the girls.

Now, back to Rick Pitino cleaning house here which has been long overdue.

We got so used to mediocrity that some wanted the same mediocre players back to transform into superheroes.

On with the reorganization.
