Rick Pitino - Head Coach at St John’s University!!!

This is a move I honestly thought SJU would not make, and I was vocal about that. During the BE tournament, especially Day 2, the chatter became non-stop, and I saw a lot of confirmation on this site (thanks, those in the know.)

I couldn't be happier, and I really think this move is going to shock the overall basketball community as I think success is coming fast and furious.

I'm ready for it!

My complaints about the lack of air conditioning in Carnesseca Arena have officially ended. By the time Pitino retires I'll be at least 59 and probably beginning blood thinners so a 24 year era on here has ended

Finally we have the leadership to go up against Greg McDermott, Shaka Smart, Sean Miller, etc… No more high noon showdowns with only a slingshot in tow.

Both Father Shanley and Iona deserve a cheer. Father Shanley for getting involved and Iona for hiring Pitino three years ago because if they didn’t take a chance on Pitino back then he may not have been available for hiring today.

A telling sign... ESPN top story RP to coach St Johns over Cooley to coach Gtown. I thought maybe it's because St. John's is one of my "favorites" so I signed in without a log in... We are front page news.

Cooley is not in the same stratosphere as Pitino as a coach. HOF and the GOAT!!!!

With the new, wide opened transfer pool rules, and with Coach Pitino at the helm, imho it will take SJU a mere few months, before Summertime, to assemble a top 20 team competitive in Big East!

50 years a fan, the last 20 +:years watching this program in what seemed like a bad dream/nightmare at times and today we get the Bill Parcells of college coaches! Pinch me please am I dreaming! Go Johnnie's.......
