Rick’s Targets

So if I’ve got dates right that means Dunlap, Taylor, Luis and Mahoney will all be on campus at same time for a bit. Noah the day after. 5 spots left.
A clever and wise move by Pitino. Potentially get the players/recruits/visitors to vibe off one another and see if they'd like to join ranks.

SJU79 mentioned we'd see more talent coming aboard.

I'd be very happy getting this group, plus Noah if Demary Jr proves out of reach. All four guys have promise, plus 2 - 3 -4 years of availability.
In theory, of course. Lol.
And these are guys who'd benefit from Rick's player development skills.
Here's hoping for a very good week.
Don’t think Noah and Demary are either or unless of course Posh comes back 🤣

With a high efficiency scoring engine and underrated length and a polished skill set, Luis is teeming with high major translatable upside.

Luis shot it at 45 percent from the floor on the season. And though he battled bouts of inconsistency, Luis showed his ability to trigger game-altering scoring surges with a promising 31-point performance (7-for-11 FG, 17-18 FT) during an 87-79 victory over Duquesne.

Prior to this performance, Luis turned in a 23-point performance (6-for-12 FG, 2-6 3FG, 9-10 FT) en route to an 85-76 victory over Richmond. A 78 percent free throw shooter, Luis had five games in which he shot eight free throws or more.

His ability to draw fouls, embrace contact and earn trips to the foul line is an aspect of his game you can't discount. While SJU lost a recruiting battle with Florida over the nation's best free throw shooter in Iona transfer Walter Clayton Jr., Luis poses a similar threat as a hard slashing wing capable of keeping defenders in chase mode.

This RJ Luis kid really intrigues me.

Still young, has only played one year of college ball. already averaging in double figures in the A10 which is definitely one of the better mid major leagues even if it isn’t what it used to be. 6’7 guard? A pro type frame. Hasn’t showed much in terms of a 3pt shot which is the one reason this kid probably isn’t being pursued by the top top schools.

I would like this pick up a lot especially paired with Thomasson who will pick up the slack in terms of shooting the rock

Find it very tough to believe both Luiz and Taylor would come here especially if staff is going for Dunlap, but who knows
We are wide open at the wing right now with other teams having 2,3, sometimes 4 players 6’6-6’8. If they are more talented than the guards below them or the bigs above them then it could easily work out. But I get your point.

If we had to rank those 3 I’d have Dunlap 3rd personally.

So best best possible realistic scenario given the names we’ve heard and visits scheduled.

Noah Thomasson
RJ Luis
Brady Dunlap
Silas Demary

And obviously Mgbako but who knows if he’s even seriously considering us

Is that somewhat accurate?

I think Paultzman and others tag Silas Demary Jr., as a 'maybe' at best, but I hope you're right, R_SR.

If playing time is his top priority, I’d be pleasantly surprised if he’s here. I think outside of a guy like mgbako, pitino is going to tell everyone every position is up for grabs/a competition

Great summary as usual Paultzman.
Have a good feeling about filling at least three open spots from the visiting group.
I think Rick holds on to the 5th spot to save the best for last.

On second thought I'd take Luis & Thomasson 1 & 2, excluding Demary Jr., but pick Dunlap over Taylor if it became a choice because I think Dunlap has more upside and would be with us at least 3 years.
Don't want to push it, but maybe like our Champagnie?
