Pitino develops teams by making pieces fit together; for all his obvious success he has not had a history of five star recruits and “superstar“ NBA level talent dominated teams. IMO, guys that want to decide where players slot and their relative value based on stats, rankings, highlight films, etc. might be in for some pleasant surprises.
In most seasons and for decades, the Johnnies have fielded teams in which the total is less than the sum of the parts; I personally am getting ready, finally, to see the exact opposite going forward.

37.8% from 3, and 87% FT% (8.5% higher than any Johnny last year). I'd think he'll only be used in select spots, but I do like Pitino's emphasis on shooting.

The signing of Conway is a good experienced piece. But the team needs mire difference makers to have a shot at the tournament.

Watching the Conway tape, I just don’t see it. Think he’s gonna be an end of the bench guy when this roster is all said and done

It comes down to roster construction and spacing. If he can 4-5 open/openish looks from deep then he will prob be a nice addition While we haven’t had a ton of great spot up shooters over the years, nor have we had an offense/roster designed to optimize their open looks

The only difference is that those two would have done well here if the coach would have taught spacing and designed plays to get them good looks.

Again, he isn’t a world beater, but a piece. Brick by brick.

Take a look at some of his videos. The kid moves well without the ball and attacks the basket with efficiency. I think he’s more than a spot up shooter.

Definitely a bench piece, but based on the videos, much better than Caraher who was not a shooter.

Conway drives well in addition to good shooting. How he defends on perimeter is a question. Then again we see a lot of zone, so always good to have sharpshooter in first 7 or 8 rotation. Yeah, people assumed Caraher was a shooter for stereotypical reason, but clearly was not

Conway is more than a sniper, he is a pretty good all-around player; I do agree 100% with your premise that it remains to be seen how he contributes but I would add, Pitino is not CMA and he has proven he knows the type player he wants to implement his style. Fans wanted Pitino here but it appears some thought (general statement, not pointed at you) the rebuild would be instantaneous.

Hard to get excited about this one..but as end of bench/rotation player nothing wrong with filling that with a shooter. Maybe we get lucky for once and the supposed shooter that commits actually comes to queens and hits some shots.
