"Hope" has nothing to do with it. He is right.
If you really believe that Lavin will suddenly be unable to recruit then you should find another place to hang out for the next 15 years. You won't like it around here.
I'll tell you who should be worried.
Any coach that was counting on landing some highly regarded prospect in the spring who they've been chasing for the last 3 years.
It comes down to this:
Best case, we have all these guys in the 2nd semester and yesterday means NOTHING in 3 months.
Worst case, we have 1-3 ADDITIONAL scholarships to offer in the spring and our scholarship imbalance is settled now instead of 4 years from now. And god forbid Kyle Anderson decides to come here as most of the connected posters on this site suggest. Lavin is GREAT recrutiing on his own, but Is there any recruit in the country Lavin wouldn't be able to land with an extra scholly or two in his hand and Kyle Anderson in his back pocket?
Let's hope this guy is right.

Just read this on sportsline. If anyone understands the logic of these NCAA rules you should get an award

Jakarr Sampson was the most highly-touted of the nine St. John’s newcomers, ranking in the top 40 by nearly every outlet.
Of course, on Thursday, he was also one of three Red Storm freshmen ruled ineligible for the first semester by the NCAA.
The 6-foot-8 forward from Ohio has not decided on his next move yet.
“Nothing definitive as of yet,” Don Anderson, his former AAU coach, said.
There are a few options: he could head back to Brewster Academy (N.H.) for another prep year, or he could go to a different prep school and take classes in order to get cleared as soon as possible.
Since Sampson never officially enrolled at St. John’s, he can still go back to St. John’s or any Big East school if he does another year at Brewster. Had he enrolled, he would be ineligible to go to a Big East college – including St. John’s – if he did another prep year.
Anderson also cleared up rumors that Sampson has opened up his recruitment.
“No he hasn’t,” Anderson said.
Looks like this will be a situation that continues to evolve.
two misconceptions as i see it. kyle isn't in anyone's back pocket. it would hurt big time not getting him.

This guy says he would have to do a full year at prep school , so he wouldn't be available in December...I hope he is wrong.
two misconceptions as i see it. kyle isn't in anyone's back pocket. it would hurt big time not getting him.
I think the fist misconception here is to suggest that anyone was saying Lavin has Kyle in his back pocket.
The second one is that it will hurt "big time" if we don't get him.
That is correct. Realistically, under most coaches, rebuilt programs have 4-5 year trajectories to get up to where they were, or want to be (within reason - depending on which program it is and their history and expectation levels). I see it being about 5 years due to such a massive overhaul, but solid success a few years from now.two misconceptions as i see it. kyle isn't in anyone's back pocket. it would hurt big time not getting him.

It will hurt the heart of many posters "big time" but not the program.
