I don't think Sternberg graduated.
Sternberg did graduate from our alma material

1.One would think the new president and the athletic director would be in touch with all of these wealthy St. John's people + invite them to the university + invite them to games + show interest and perhaps in return have money/donation  responses...
2.Just like some thing I've hoped for for decades we should always invite former basketball players back and if and when any attend a game they should be recognized and announced at the game!

The move will be Repole's to make.   Both Bill Janetschek and Mike Cragg know Repole well and his communication with SJU has not totally been cut off.   Repole divorced himself from SJU.   SJU and our fans now are in agreement that CMA is a much better hire than Hurley would have been, and that CMA is here for the long haul - Hurley likely not.    On that point though, had Repole been willing to finance most of the Hurley hire or even a very healthy chunk of it, he may have gotten his way.

Beast
most of us lack the access and insights to the program and behind the scenes so thank you very much
for sharing!
A Repole reunion sounds possible and promising
be well!

Several overtures have been made to Sternberg and he has made it clear he wants nothing to do with the school.  To my knowledge would not even explain why.   Too bad.  An internship with the Ray's would be a cool thing to have, even ifcat the least.

Just to put it all in perspective

Former NFL Panthers owner Jerry Richardson has now donated over $262.6 million to his alma mater, Wofford, which is among the largest individual commitments ever to a U.S. college or university. That figure includes a new $150 million gift made yesterday -- the largest in the school's history.

I am in the camp of those happy Repole shot off on WFAN.  He, like many of us, was fed up with the inept leadership resulting in misery for this once prominent program.  He sensed "more of the same" was on the way.

He's a fan like us and, just as we shared his frustration back then, I am sure he share's our delight with the current direction of the program.  If we continue on this trajectory, I predict he will come back to the table.  I also think Cragg will approach this the right way.

SJU needs donors like Sternberg and Repole way more then the other way around, Especially at a time like this when the school is really struggling financially. While I don't know this for a fact, my sense is that both Sternberg and Repole donate millions of dollars per year to various causes and institutions. The fact that neither donates to their alma mater, tells me more about SJU then it does either of those 2.

Repole has donated to university and other causes. Outside of basketball program, I remember about 5+ years ago, he put up $ for $ matching up to $100K offer for SJU alumni donation fundraiser and I'm sure more at other times.

Read something very cool about him once that he created a charitable foundation called Nonna's Garden, as a gift and honor to his grandmother for her birthday or something like that.

Just recently he was in news as he donated $100k+ to Barstool Sports small business relief fund (same that Aquista Trattoria got help from)

and also make $100k donation to a Middle Village catholic elementary school a few years ago.

anyway, interesting to see this 2011 NY Post article on booster influence.. St. John's covered prominently with the Taeffner thing as well as Repole at end

Colleges do uneasy dance with demanding boosters

We show some success under Anderson and move past COVID, I'd bet those season ticket sales jump a good amount.             I don't know . Those Cardboard fans might not want to give up those
choice seats .
