MullinsRevenge has done what I thought was previously impossible, which is he fell in love harder for an opposing coach/program than Otis did for Villanova during the Jay Wright years 😄
Guys, Im putting together a Danny Hurley synposium out by the pool on Friday afternoon in the bahams. Will be an information session on the greatness of danny hurley followed by a question and answer session.

I will send out further details as we get closer to the event.

Stay tuned!!!

fordham96: loves resurrecting old threads where he made some "hot take" to pat himself on the back. Marillac does it with his old posts too.

I'm only mentioning this cause I want to have my own version of this for the upcoming season

Man that Rick Pitino can really coach

That’s actually the only thing Fordham does that doesn’t bother me 😂

More posters should do it so we know how much weight to give to their future predictions.

LOL let me be clear, bringing up receipts for opinions/takes and stuff is good for the board I agree.

The fordham ones just make me laugh though cause the thread will be dramatic as sh*t it'll be like "the most important recruit of all....."

and then you open it and its a picture of Rick Pitino LMAO

the hottest take in SJU history... hiring Rick Pitino was important :ROFLMAO:

That would be a good system if posters who laud themselves for their obscure two year old takes that turned out to be correct conscientiously reported all the times they were wrong.

For example, a poster who claimed he knew all along that Player X was the next big thing would be burdened by the fact that he's sung the praises of, oh, I don't know, Malik Stith; or said that Cedric Jackson was the worst player he'd ever seen. That would give us a batting average.

Consider myself, universally beloved poster emeritus. On the one hand, I was probably the first fan to sour on Iron Mike Anderson, dubbing him coach third choice, having soured on him before he was hired. On the other I was excited when Jarhead was hired, and forget about Mullin, I thought he was a sure thing. On the one hand I thought Yawke and Burrell were studs in the making, which they weren't; on the other I was an early fan of Quincy Roberts and Tyshawn E.

Or leaving me out of it consider my boon companion WEARESJU: he's been often wrong about players with whom he's become inexplicably enamored (e.g. Larry Wright), but then he's also wrong about the virtues of players like Mike Moses and Gene Lawrence. But on the third hand he must be right about something every once in a while, it's the law of averages.

Let's face it: other than fun (RIP) very few posters have been right about most things most of the time and to the contrary: most posters are wrong about most things most of the time. The best you can hope for regarding this fan base is (considering that most of them graduated from St John's) is that they can sometimes occasionally express themselves somewhat semi-coherently and that they sporadically display a modicum of self-awareness and or a vague sense of humor.

FUN, FUN, FUN:

I think one of the exceptions is the Paultzman. Although his avatars have not been as dependable lately, I think the NIL influence is the reason and virtually no one can be 100% anymore.
Sorry to hear about FUN! He was legendary. Especially when he wasn't sober.
I trust that you, his evil seed, will carry on the proud tradition of yellow journalism that we all love.

I should be dinged for Stith and other misses. I thought Stith would be a solid 20 minute guy.

Jackson I felt was one of the best defenders, athletes, and rebounders I’d ever seen here. But his skill level was so low…and his offense was awful here.

Ode to mjmaherjr when not at happy hour :)

I think you said something like Stith was a navy seal or something like that but to be fair you were so young back then it was your GI Joe stage :)

Being totally serious because Ed ( sjufan2 woukd crack up at a lot of your posts ) if he was alive and saw this I’d get a call with him chuckling and his exact words “ mj you just see this ? I’d be driving and say huh ? Them he’d start laughing and say pull over look at what fun wrote it doesn’t have anything to do with murder rape or incest you can log in from work “. I’d never trust that so I’d use personal phone but he’s always be chuckling as I read something from someone he thought funny “

Wait Marillac is Steve Lavin?
Could be. I only met him once at the bigeastboards party. Marillac walked on a sweating mess. If my memory serves me correctly he was trying nf to make an impression on Larry Wright because Larry played baseball at Pace so Marriolsf played 20 pickup games straight they day at Chelsea Piers to impress everyone. But once he saw KOB ( Burrell handler ) then he resorted to the old Marillac doing shots off Baldi and telling us the UConn women’s story

Lavin said that and it was early enough in his tenure that I believed him. I’ve always been a sucker for a backup pure PG with intangibles.

But I don’t think I ever posted that h his ceiling would be higher than a quality reserve. I would have loved Stith on last season’s team actually. So maybe I haven’t learned😂
