Redmen.com Charlotte post game mourning party

Apparently down here some weddings aren't I guess as formal as up on long island.

Dinkins?

LOL

Weddings are actually formal here. Maher may have ran into folks who didn't care about formality. That may have been their wedding theme.... Wear or dress as you wanna.

90% of duke fans are the human beings on earth. I actually find the long island duke fans to be worse on my hate scale than satan

you still drinking?

Nah actually only had 3 beers last night BUT here is a funny story. We were driving today to go to asheville which is about 2 hours away and maybe 20 minutes from asheville there is a sign on the highway for a winery and wine tastings. So Nathalie and I take a quick detour to go there and end up staying there 5 hours and now have 8 new friends and are invited by one of the couples to come down to their wedding in 2 months. Apparently down here some weddings aren't I guess as formal as up on long island.

We never made it to asheville. We just got back to charlotte now.

Tomorrow we are going to try and make it to Asheville because everyone we have met has said they have great craft beer and they all keep saying to go to some place called wicked weed beer or something like that

Another classic Maher story! Did they send you a link to Bass Pro Shops for their wedding gift registry? That's how you know for sure if you are invited!

Great to meet you Mike and Nathalie, And of course MJDinkins & son, Jersey Shore Johnny, Beast of the East & family, Hansonbro / Sleveless Guy, SJU11 and others. At the game we met fellow poster CCNobz & son and many other loud and passionate fans.

Robert Werdann could not have been nicer (we were in a class together back in the day). I also chatted to D'Lo's grandmother for a minute. I told her we were all so proud of they way his SJU career has evolved and how much he means to the fans.

I think the players can hold their heads up, they left it all out there. Our section (115) was loud and did our best to inspire them. My voice is shot today. It was certainly a poignant moment when D'Lo left the court and again at the end when the "Thank you Seniors" chant broke out.

While we did not win, my son and I had a wonderful time. It was great to meet some of the Redmen.com family. Well worth the trip from Texas. Thanks guys.

Here is how the day started today

I see you hit up Bojangles', Maher. LOL Did you like it? It doesn't do much for me nowadays.

Dinkins?
what about dinkins ?

I was going to make a comment about marrying a sister or cousin being less formal but considering Dinkins comment about inbreeding I figured I'd let him have it. ;)

I once lived in South Carolina. I was invited to Christmas party and shocked when I found out that southern boys stand under the mistletoe at Christmas and wait for Granny and cousin Sue-Ellen to walk by.

LOL

That's cold, '72.

haaa. ok

Dinkins was the lucky one. He lives an hour away so he was able to get out of town right after he met up with us

LOL

My son was out of gas. We weren't out of Charlotte, and he was knocked out. I knew he was done while we were at Tilt.

@Paul: The Duke inbred's was kinda wild in our area. Seriously, there was two dudes, during St. John's/SDSU game who would periodically make "calls" to one another. They were probably doing it, as a joke. But one would make one sound, and the other would make a similar sound.

One was in section 212 would say, "Cooooookooo!" The other guy in section 215 would say, "Cockle-cooooooo-dooooooo!" It sounded like some backwood's country arse call.

We liked it. A little too peppery but I it was good. They have these cheddar biscuit breakfast sandwiches that looked real good on their advertisements but not gonna make it there for breakfast

As for South Carolina, I may have mentioned to you in previous conversations that I was stationed for part of my illustrious military career at Fort Jackson outside of Columbia. I was there with another redmen grad from 72-73 and attended most USC games that season courtesy of the legendary Frank McGuire who we visited at a team practice. To be honest, it was like being home with that South Carolina staff and crew. Frank made sure there were always complimentary tickets for us and he had a soft spot for G.I.'s, especially from NYC and St. John's. His entire staff was made up of New Yorkers if I recall with Donnie Walsh and Buck Freeman. He had an all New York area starting five who were not only great players but the nicest kids you could meet. USC had left the ACC that year and became an independant like St. John's. I was heart broken when I got transfers orders to Texas. As for a small world of coincidences, my new CO in my battalion who conducted my on-boarding interview was a face I recognized. He had graduated the year before me from West Point and he played for none other than Bobby Knight. Being the only African American starter on the team made him easy to remember and being from St. John's and having a love of college basketball in common we became fast friends. Hungry for college basketball we would drive down to Austin with a couple of other guys (they were all from the Houston area) and attended UT games. Their games were played in the Gregory Gym back then that was much smaller than our Alumni Hall.
I actually had a great time with southern boys as you see! ;)

You might want to reconsider that last line, 72. Just joking, of course.

Thoughts of Ned Beatty in Deliverance. Ouch!
