4 of them could be in the nba before that happens. Damn these kentucky fans have it good

It's amazing , I guess when they didnt make the Ncaa last season Cal said that's not gonna happen again. STJ fans would do flips if we landed 6 out of the top 15 players in the tri-state area, he landed 6 out of the top 15 in the county! They play Mich St next week 1 vs 2

He actually but most of that glass together prior to them not making the tourney last year.

Still an amazing class, they are saying may be the best class ever but I guess only time will tell.

They need to win it all to be considered the best class ever, and I don't think they will.

Just noticed that? LOL

Yes, this is supposed to be the best class in history, and it may well be. But they weren't exactly lacking in the past either

2009 2 of top 3, 3 of top 20 35-3 Elite 8
2010 2 of top 10, 4 of top 25 29-9 Final 4
2011 3 of top 7, 4 of top 20 38-2 Champs
2012 3 of top 10, 4 of top 30 21-12, 17-7 with Noel, 1st round NIT
2013 5 of top 10., 6 of top 20 TBA

He just had a bigger class to fill but they're still freshman who have to prove it on the court against real competition. That works out sometimes and sometimes it doesn't. The fact that they have Cauley-Stein and Pothyress returning plus, to a lesser extent, Hood should help a lot as there's some experience there. The returnees, Jones, Lamb and Miller, are what made the championship team special. Could be the same this year.

Why is it funny that I just noticed?

True, and don't think they have a chance to do that. They just don't have enough veterans like Cal's other wildly successful teams. Those teams had at least two draftable upperclassmen.

Darius Miller was the only player on the championship team playing in more than their 2nd season. Isn't that an upperclassman? The players with experience to play significant minutes were Lamb and Jones in their second year and Miller. Wiltjer played in some games but averaged under 6 min per game in the dance when Cal essentially decided to go 6 1/2 deep.

Miller, Jones and Lamb vs. Pothyress and Cauley Stein plus a senior in Hood. That's almost as much experience and there's still 8 draftable players on the team, there was only 6 in 2012.

That said, Anthony Davis was a freak of nature in his one year. Can Randle or Johnson be that guy inside? Or has Cauley Stein improved? That will help. They many not win it all but you can't say they aren't one of the 3-4 favorites.

PS 2014: 2 top 11 and 4 top 31 and he's just getting started. LOL

True, if they don't there's no way they can match up with the Fab 5!

They are clearly the best class ever. That's not up for debate. Doesn't mean they are the best team.

Sorry, I just assume that everyone who posts on the board is a somewhat knowledgeable college basketball fan. I guess I should read more posts to knock that idea out of my head.

And I assumed anyone that used LOL was a teenaged girl.

They are clearly the best class ever. That's not up for debate. Doesn't mean they are the best team.

ESPN had a segment yesterday having all of these kids in the top 10 of the draft. Goodman(?) has an article (which I haven't read) apparently stating that as many as 8 NBA teams are tanking their seasons to vie for position in the next lottery. So yeah they are pretty good.

The Sixers over/under for the season was 16.5 and there were rumors that they would tank to get the #1- Wiggins...and they won their first 3 games including beating Miami and Chicago. Amazing.

Most of the players in next year's draft will come from Kentucky, but they are also supposedly "tanking" for several other players not affiliated with UK (ie, Smart, Wiggins, Parker, Exum, Gordon, Selden, Glenn Robinson, III, and a couple of other guys from abroad).

The thing I don't get about that is if it's the deepest draft in years then why do you need to tank? Is Wiggins that much more of a sure thing than Randle or Harrison or Parker or Smart or Harris or GRIII or . . . . .

PS everyone thought Philly was tanking by benching Noel for the season, they're 3-1 with a win over the heat. Will they make the playoffs? Maybe not but just because some teams are focusing on youth instead of big money veterans doesn't mean they're tanking, it means they're building for the future and if that happens to get them into the lottery then that's just an added benefit. Maybe some teams have realized that even with a salary cap they can't compete for enough big money players to be successful due to the unequal distribution of of local TV rights and the willingness of some teams to pay $100 million in luxury tax so they're taking an Oakland A's approach. Moneyball Part Deux.
