Reading it made me very nostalgic for the days when differing politics didn't make people enemies. Civility, even with the occasional F-bomb often prevailed. But at least for now those days are gone.

Truth be told, I enjoy this site so much because it is an escape from the ugly world of politics.
Let me know when you're feeling nostaligic again and I'll send you and F-bomb via private message. Happy to do that for you (followed up with an I love you man).

That goes for all my friends here.

PS does that mean it's also off limits to ask if any moderators support compulsive liars, or self admitted sexual assaulters? Asking for a friend.
Nah. Tell your friend that we regularly had mods (and posters) asked about their support of Clinton, Bush, and Obama.
You're as funny as ever Alfie.
I will take it as a compliment. But I am not sure it is. ;)

It is and it isn't. I've stopped taking all this stuff too seriously. Feeling like I'd have been supporting Nero on bass.

Paul / Kranmars......I sent you each a friend request. I am hoping to be productive via private message.

Thanks.....James

Glad the thread was locked. I could give a rat’s ass what any of you(except maybe Fun and a few others) think about politics. That’s not what this board is about. What’s next threads about animal rights, climate change and abortion? Please take your political and social rants elsewhere.
Late to the game, but I was the one who locked it up. As you are aware, this thread was open for discussion since the election, without any interruptions.

But the political discourse was going down a toilet. And I decided to stop it before it went overboard.

And now on a personal level, I did not lock it because I am a Trump suppoter. And for those throwing out sh*t against the wall about me supporting a white supremist had better take a step back and breathe deeply before you say things like that again.

That is insulting. And insults are off limits here. Moreover, I will not dignify those insidious statements with some resume' trying to explain myself either.

PM me if you still feel like calling me names. I have always been respectful of everyone here, regardless of their opinions or leanings. Having said that, I more than amenable to throwing mud back if required.

Thank you,

Alfredo
can I just text you insults ? That will save me on data when I’m not in a WiFi free spot
I'm in the process of reading John McCain's The Restless Wave. Great read. There is a section in it where he discusses a contentious senate debate over Bill Clinton's nominee for Surgeon General Jocelyn Elders. McCain had just been re-elected for first time and wound up getting into a name calling argument with Ted Kennedy which quickly degenerated into personal attacks including an F-bomb or two. He says that they soon retreated to their seats and after the session ended, Kennedy came up and threw an arm around him and before you knew it they were laughing and congratulating one another on their combativeness. Of course, the two went on to become friends, sponsoring several bills together and had a long and cooperative, if often adversarial, political relationship. McCain later eulogized Teddy at his memorial service. Reading it made me very nostalgic for the days when differing politics didn't make people enemies. Civility, even with the occasional F-bomb, often prevailed. But at least for now those days are gone.

Truth be told, I enjoy this site so much because it is an escape from the ugly world of politics.
you just described a lot of the posters here and some others in the original R&P forum here when GWB got elected. It could get reaLly ugly arguing but you always had to bring your A game but eventually most of those guys became some of my closest friends. A person might have been an idiot but he was our Idiot.

Stopping discourse when the nation may be in peril does not make sense to me, except if you discount the possibility of foreign adversary conspiracy.

There is a new redmen.com tagline in there somewhere. fuchsia?

But seriously, you could susbstute various choice words for "idiot" and that's family in a nutshell.

That's as it should be. Back in the day when disagreeing with someone's politics didn't make you either a reaally baad person or a deplorable....

Can’t we just keep the political threads in the players lounge? This way those of us who don’t think that the sky is falling don’t have to listen to the incessant whining from those in the minority (of the US population) who think that their OPINION matters one iota more than anyone else’s.

Absolutely. But do not insult me using text jargon acronyms. Spell them out. I want to at least be able to read and understand them.

If nothing else, your hyperbole is consistent.

I decided not to comment on this. I'm one of those people who watch at least the news reporting on the other side's networks which is every channel not Fox. The lack of reporting on anything factual that would make liberals look bad makes it impossible to dialogue with all bit a few who at least know what's going on. The continual gameplan that began in earnest on election night was to drive the President out of office. If he said it or did it, it must be bad. Hes a racist (but 30+% of latinos voted for him), a sexual predator , when their own hero left the stains on a 21 yr olds dress as proof, he's talking to evil dictators. When Obama himself scoffed at the notion that Russia was a geopolitical foe. They ignore that Hillary paid the Russians for a dossier ontrump, and on and on and on.

The truth no longer matters in American politics, its what one sides creates as truth to sway the sheep - the electorate.

Which is why we cant discuss this ant longer, because the truth is no longer reported or even reported.

There. I didnt say it. Lock this thread too

Hey mods, while you’re at it, please put the “New York Mets-2018” thread out to pasture as well. The season is long over, and it’s getting ugly over there. You might want to proactively prevent a “New York Mets-2019” thread as well.

Respectfully, I think you're way off and standing by this president is going to get harder and harder for the 33% who voted to put America first.
Hummanahummanahumma.
Fuchsia......to be fair, I offered to engage Paul and Kranmars privately and then I promptly went on vacation. I am back now and will reach out to them. No one was stalling or "obstructing". :eek:hmy:
