I agree. This team get no respect. If we beat Butler, that will change the perception. Beating 3 ranked teams this early in the year is a major accomplishment.
Exactly, the coaches poll really pisses me off, 0 votes after after beating AZ.

They can go to hell and burn.

Gman, you know after beating #16 Arizona, not receiving atleast 1 vote is bs, also beat wvu too who is also a top 25. It's like they're saying screw sju, we're still not giving them any votes.
I'd love to get the name of the idiots behind the voting.

Ty for putting the clueless idiot coaches names up:
Boeheim??? That idiot needs to retire.
No vote from McDermott - Hope we kick their asses both times.

Want to see if next Monday they realize their mistake and give a few votes for SJU.
Atleast you see a few votes in the ap for us, wasn't expecting 15votes, just atleast acknowledge us if we're surprisingly doing good.

I hope you know that is only the list of coaches who has a vote and not the list who didn't give the Johnnies a vote. We don't know who did or didn't give us a vote in the Coaches' Poll unless it's confirmed somewhere.

Frankly, this stuff doesn't matter to me at this time of the year. Talk to me in February and March when it matters. We do our part and I think everything will fall into place.

I admit, I'm not positive about how voting works, but I'd assume that if someone voted then we wouldn't know, since we'd have a vote
There are no votes so that means that no one gave sju a vote no

Unless someone voted for sju but we don't see that vote.

I agee it's a small thing, but to me it's the principle.
Just want acknowledgement

Our big jump happened. Those two points were a result of Sunday’s games.
Yes. The Arizona win bumped our NET up from 69 to 50 overnight. We went from 50 to 48 for other smaller, harder to identify reasons.
Thanks gents. Too bad Herron didn't play against Butler because we would have beat them and been right outside the top 25. Or if maybe the refs gave us a call once in awhile like Dunn being mugged at the end. That game should have been headed to OT.

Gotta love this teams attitude and defensive intensity and QUICKNESS. Once Herron gets back and Williams keeps improving this team is going to be a nightmare for a lot of teams once we are healthy.

Only one “r” in Heron. And the refs had nothing to do with the loss to Butler, nothing.

New NET ratings: Seton Hall (25), Rugers (31), St. John's (54) and Hofstra (154). #shbb #sjubb

I think these ratings should be viewed as a snapshot in time, not what our team will be throughout the season. I think our talent will shine through with good coaching and game experience.

Are u blind?. Dunn got MUGGED at the end and we never get a call when it counts. The refs had PLENTY to do with that game. They decided it with a bullshit no call.

No, I am not blind but thanks for asking. WE lost the game, not the refs. Blaming refs is for losers. Refs miss calls, make bad calls, all game long, many swallow their whistles at the end of games, part of the game. Just like coaches and players make mistakes. WE are the ones who let it come down to one possession so you take the good with the bad. BTW, didn't Dunn get a call (deservedly so) at the end of the WVU game to make the two winning fouls shots?

Correct. We had one fast break where Rutherford traveled, passed it to the Duke who then traveled, and they didnt call either of them.

As much as I hate the refs in general, I gotta agree with the adage "never let the game be close enough for the refs to F you", because if you do, they will.

Not saying it was the case in the Butler game, but what if the other team has a huge FT advantage like 35-13?
Sometimes you don't have a choice.

Refs are just a human part of the game, bringing right and wrong, integrity and pettiness along with them, as humans in all endeavors. IMO, the obsession with “getting it right” caused by those same humans, i.e. the proliferation of “talking heads” and their after the fact, endless slow motion, stop action, analysis of replays that led to the abominable use of those replays to decide game outcomes has done more to hurt sports than any referees bad call. Because the fact is you CAN’T get it right and to cherry pick what gets reviewed and when it gets reviewed has somewhat made a mockery of the essence of sport.
One small example, a basketball game is stopped sometimes almost play by play in let’s say the last two minutes so the refs can spend minutes “correcting” the clock or going to 5 minute examinations of who touched the ball last, all the while ignoring the fact that maybe that two minutes should be 1:45 or 2:15 because of improper handling for the previous 38 minutes. Or ignoring that possibly three times in the game mistakes were made in awarding out of bounds to the wrong team. Meanwhile, the game flow is destroyed and you have a mini “game within a game” while the players stand around waiting for those decisions.
Again, this is just one mans opinion and I realize I am in what is probably a pretty small minority in that opinion but bad calls, bad reffing is just part of the game. I am more than okay living with them rather than the intrusion of technology on what for me used to be a very human experience.
