@Providence, Wed. Jan. 25, 6:30pm, FS1/570AM

Poker chips to the center of the table.......This team will beat Providence on Wednesday.

Love the optimism, but we NEVER win at Providence. It's not just us. The place is so damn depressing that every road team goes in at a disadvantage. The Friars are used to dealing with the suckitude, everybody else has to try to adjust.

We actually won there in 2014 and 2015. This year, I don't think they are much better than us, but I do think Cooley is a strong coach.

Yeah, but that's when we had Lavin as our coach.

Who? I blocked those years out of my memory.

Better recruiter. Seriously you have to be a good recruiter to get kids with that thing on the back of his head. Not sure I could have played for him. I also don't think I could have taken Keady seriously when he was sporting the ridiculous comb-over. Wouldn't have played for Bobby Knight either. Who wants to get screamed at, kicked and choked for 4 years. Fran would have been a problem for me as well as would not have wanted to see his Johnson whenever he was mad.

Would be great not to add this game to the embarrassing category.

The open at +8.5 is probably our most damaging line of the year that I can recall, and would not be surprised if that is a reflection of our growing trend of poor play on the road. Would be nice to start to change that.

I agree, but I think Ponds is due for a good game, so I took the points.

I want to pick this one but every time I do it seems like I lose so I will live vicariously through you on this one. :huh:

I still don't understand why Amar plays at all. I rather play undersized or with Freud in there.

28-23 SJU, at the under 8.

I like some of the things we've done. Ball movement has mostly been good. We've had a few good defensive possessions, too. Both teams in foul trouble.

I feel like we should be up more, but Providence is also close to 80% from the field, so maybe they cool down.

As much as Ellison has improved he still has to throw that lazy pass and then miss the front end of a one and one. He really needs to improve on that 56% FT shooting

Cooley in the huddle summed up St Johns. In a nutshell Prov gets what they want on offense and St Johns doesn't share the ball on offense.

Ellison is starting to become very effective at getting into the lane and finishing. Very nice to see his growth. Still has a Bonehead play at times but good outweighs the bad more often than not.

Then why is his team losing by 7?

Actually, I think our ball movement has been mostly good, so far tonight.
