@Providence, Sat. Mar. 3, 12 NOON, FOX SN (YES?), 570AM

It's highly improbable, but there is actually scenario where we can win Saturday, and still finish in last place.

Here's how it would work:

We beat Providence
Depaul beats Xavier
Georgetown beats Villanova

In that case, Xavier still wins the BE regular season crown, so Depaul would leap over us into 9th place, based on strength of victory tiebraker. All 3 of those results would have to happen for that to be the case. If the first two occur, and Nova wins, then they are the 1 seed, and strength of victory tiebraker goes to us.

Of course, we also finish last if we lose, and Depaul wins, so let's try to avoid that (I know that Depaul beating Xavier would be a huge upset, but we did win at Nova this year, so anything is possible).

Was thinking that. Tricky injury. Needs time to heal. His ‘game’ impossible with a twingy abdomen. Hope we can somehow prevail against Providence. Would’ve luvved to have finished on a mini roll...winning Providence game, then 1 of 2 in BET to end season 17-16, and having survived the ‘gauntlet’ of this year with our heads high prepare for a breakout 2018-19.
Never say never.

Paultz, do you sense the staff is optimistic he will be healthy for the Big East tournament?

No clue

This is sort of a trap game for us. Providence over the last 5-6 years has been our Miami Marlins, a team that will beat us when we'd really like or need a win. A win would be amazing, 6-2 over the back 8 of conference play.

Ponds potentially being reminds me of when we held out Harrison vs. Nova for season finale in Philly. It wasn't pretty.

Providence needs a win to pretty much assure an at large bid. Even at 9-9, 18-13, their chances are good, but 10-8, 19-12 are almost a lock.

It has been a season of surprises, so hope for the best I imagine.

I doubt he’ll be ready because of the injury type, the game’s pace and, specifically, Shamorie’s accelerate/slash play style.
Who knows. Why not go out with a splash of 2 more miracles, beginning this Saturday, over the next 3 games.
Long odds, but hey, never ever say never.

Hmm, I recall going to the season finale against Nova in Philly where Obekpa was held out. We were up double figures early but ended up getting clobbered. I'm pretty sure Harrison played that game.

Well Google tells me a player can recover from a minor abdominal strain in as little as three days. :)

Ah google, a great resource I do not doubt. I do not know if Shamorie’s injury is ‘minor’ or more serious.
Regardless, it’s my view that given his style of play, he’ll aggravate it unless it is fully healed. Which I sure as hell hope it is!
But like a ‘hammy’ strain, an abdominal strain is a tough injury for a player who depends on speed and acceleration to play his ‘game’.
That is all I am saying.
If you recall, he sustained a couple nagging injuries earlier in the year..he played through those mostly (although he missed the first Hall game was it?), but he was so-so through that period and the team struggled.
I sure as hell hope he is healthy, if not for this Saturday, then for the BET.

Yup, I sure hope it's fully healed as well. Particularly since we will need him to be at full speed for four consecutive games next week. :)

Ha Boo, yes for sure, we all hope for that don’t we?!?

It's never worth risking a player's health for a game especially considering we likely are not going to post season. Hopefully Trimble is healing because last night he was apparently playing hurt. Play him with both Yakwe and Alibegovic in the Providence game and hopefully they get some confidence after being in Mullin's dog house and would provide much needed bench support if Shamorie Ponds is healthy enough for the Big East tournament.
Ponds has a minor oblique strain. Medically he was cleared to play before the game last night.
That’s great news! I was out and missed game (although checking it frequently and making noises, with my wife hushing me!), but a poster or two noted he was looking somber and uncomfortable.
But that’s fabulous news! I do hope ‘cleared to play’ means fully healed.
Praying we go on a mini roll here.

I don't think "cleared to play" means fully healed since according to Danny's post, Ponds was "medically" cleared to play before yesterday's game yet he did not play.

The fact that Paultz suspects that Ponds will not play against Providence makes me concerned that Ponds may not be 100 percent next week.
