Here's a charming thread on friar board about our 0-3 start, where a very nice friar fan states this re our 0-3 start:

"Couldn't happen to a better bunch of "thugs"."

The big east is awfully classy this year! Seriously though I hope we destroy them. Stop henton and don't let their young big men destroy us down low. If there was ever a game for Jordan to return back to frosh sheed...

Can't wait. Very big game if we are serious about making the tournament. Let's take it to them. Glad they beat some good teams in butler and Georgetown back to back, they have won 2 games straight and now we have a had an 8 day rest to their 4 day rest.

I don't see us winning this game.

We are 0-4 against the Top 25 RPI and the Friars come in at # 13 and off a fresh win against the Hoyas.

They like to grind it out and the game will be lost in the last ten minutes when our lack of depth will kill us because we will be exhausted and Cooley will completely out-maneuver Lavin.

Another season full of hope get going down the toilet right before our eyes. And getting a W at DePaul ain't gonna be easy either.

0-4 here we come

I don't really buy the short playing rotation as resulting in a bunch of exhausted players. Today with nearly every game being televised, there are multiple long TV timeouts that provide ample rest in addition to regular timeouts. This isn't like 40 minutes of non-stop action. Our problem is lack of depth up front. We have 4 legitimate, serviceable guards in the rotation, and when lineups are announced, they list Dom as a guard. The problem is we cannot afford foul trouble to CO or Dom - any coach should instruct his players to go right at CO to draw fouls. Get him on the bench, and we are toast. It's why we need productive minutes from JDR, CJ, and/or Amar.

Frankly I do not see us winning this game either! Why? Because every time we need a must win its against Providence, and we always lose! Hope this year is different!

Providence used exactly 6 players for most of last season. I think we'll be fine

And if we lose, which I expect, please no "It was a bad matchup" excuse. Our front court depth is obviously a huge deficit. In grind it out contests against team with length like PC that hurts. Hopefully Dunn has an off night, but he is really a top tier PG, blessed with quickness, instincts & athleticism.

Jordan was the primary reason why I bought into our guard oriented potential. I thought he could complement Dee on offense & cause havoc on defense. Can he it get it together & give our guards an edge? Better question may be how well has he practiced, assuming he has. :)

If they play like they did to start the Georgetown game we could blow them out in the first half like we did at their place last year. I don't expect that though as we seem to be getting everyone's best game.

We should be plenty motivated for this one as this is the team that knocked us out of any real NCAA hopes last year on our home court. I expect a season saving win!

Jordan should stay another year his accomplishments on the court thus far does not warrant his move to the next level would be a mistake now but he does have next level skills if he works on his 3 pt shooting. Coacn can only direct him if he makes a bad decision so be it
Do you see us getting blown out by Prov by that I mean 15 pts of more Seems possible

In the last two games we were completely gassed down the stretch. These guys were so tired at the end of the butler game Chris wasn't even able to walk to the bench for a time out. So our players being exhausted is a big deal here whether anyone thinks so or not.

Correct they did but those six were also better players than our six and there was more length for them too. Big difference. And we are completely ignoring the Ed Cooley vs Lavin mismatch. Let's not discount that please.

I see it as low scoring grind type game, but we'll see.

Lets take you sentence and break it down. Providence had better players and coaches yet SJU beat them once and had them beat a second time when Hooper brain froze and allowed Cotton to tie him up with no foul called (something that would never happen in Duke or Carolina's home court). Finally in the Big East tournament with Dom having one of the worst games I remember and Obepka pouting and in foul trouble all game SJU storms back with a chance to lead when Sampson can't put in a chippie.
Now how can that be. Seems like an indictment of the Friars to me.

Last years saint johns team was better than this years.

I also think this years PCs team is better than this years.

That's why we are looking at another loss this week.

Don't get mad because I speak the truth.

We'll be underdogs no doubt. Possibly by 5 or 6 points. Providence may be ranked tomorrow and absolutely deserves to be.

"February"

If our guys don't have gas in their tanks to beat Providence on the road in early January, you can forget February, March and April. This will be a pivotal game and substitution management will be critical. I see the game going down to the wire.

Not mad at all. Lets just hope your prediction is the same as the pre season NIT where you predicted two losses.

I don't believe last years team was ranked so I don't know how you could say it was better. As Marillac says addition by subtraction.
