Providence, Fri., Dec. 20, 8p, FOX

Terrible spacing.
Scott and Luis missed wiiiide open threes in the last 10 minutes. We had half a dozen mid range shots not fall. They were open. We Missed front end of 1 and 1 then 2 more straight ft’s. And Providence hit their shots.

Yes, we absolutely need to defend better, but I also think the home team might just come back down to earth.

I don’t have the best basketball IQ but the teammates don’t seem to gel together. It’s like it was an assemblage of best players from the local YMCA. They are athletic but it’s like they don’t know their roles. We are also getting bullied around. I don’t think we need to play more than 6-7 guys top.

We have looked totally confused and unable to get good looks on offense; credit where credit is due to how English prepared his team for us.
He didn't prepare for us to miss 10 straight shots! He didn't prepare for Smith and Wilcher to watch Pierre and Joseph sprint by them.
We should have run more and gone inside more and take guarding the trey seriously.
We did not play team ball at all. That's on us!

When your team is playing this bad, why not give Glover more burn or, even, give Lefty a shot to at least stretch their defense a little? I’d like to see either of them maybe take Dunlap’s minutes a bit.

I don’t think it’s a coaching masterclass or anything but Providence had a clear game plan to beat us off the dribble and make us take everything from the midrange. We’ve had no answer for either so far
If Scott and Luis are our shooters, and they miss great looks from 3, then yeah it will be tough to have an answer for that.

I read other posters complain about 3 point looks. Play up and take way 3’s and you’re gonna be susceptible to being beat off the drive. Im not defending our defense, we are getting beat, just giving the other team credit.

I also think it’s safe to say we should have played a road game or two before our BE schedule. I don’t think it’s the crowd, mostly (it’s us), but we looked rattled most of that half and 2-7 on FTs and the turnovers are indicative of it too.

He's not being outcoached. It's something people like to say to make themselves look or seem wise about the game. It's usually trite BS.
Dink, from what witnessed in the first half, what was our game plan going into this game?. What was our objective? It’s what Providence’s was, best off the dribble then either take it to the hoop or kick it out for a three. But, either way , their clear objective was they thought they could beat us off the dribble and the use that to generate open looks. We had no clear objective.
